Detailed Reviews
We stayed here as a family for a week in August in a large cabin.
The standard of accommodation was very high with good quality fittings and lots of room. I must however add that there were 3 of us and the cabin is designed to sleep up to 9.
The cabin consisted of a bedroom upstairs with a single and a double bed, a twin room down stairs, a room with bunk beds downstairs and a pull out sofa bed in the living room.
There was also a good sized kitchen leading out onto raised decking with room to seat several people around a table and all overlooking a very nice lake.
The site is not that big with maybe 50 cabins, a central admin building which has a swimming pool, sauna, pool tables and payable WiFi. It is all very well maintained. Note that as this is a self catering site, there is no restaurant on site however there is a small restaurant on the other side of the lake (about a 5 minute walk tops) which was really quite nice and not too expensive either.
There is also a man made beach at the side of the lake which was a big hit with the kids.
Nontron was a great base for exploring this part of France however be aware that if you don't have a car, this could be too isolated for you.
The only downside was that the advertised kids club did not actually exist and unfortunately neither the travel agent nor the resort have responded to this other than admitting that it was not running (which of course I already knew). it is for this reason I have not given this resort 5 stars as I was left with a very disappointed 6 year old and had to rethink some of our holiday.
All in all we did have a great relaxing holiday
