Room was clean & comfortable but a lot of noise from the N7 - it will be a lot better after the by-pass opens although probably still too close to cut out all noise. The evening meal was O.K but very ordinary lacking finesse. Breakfast was fine.

On the roundabout where several routes converge on Varennes, this Hotel/Restaurant offers a keenly priced plat-du-jour menu. My wife had a salad (offered in 2 sizes, the smaller version was plenty for her) and I had the fish option, both of which were excellent. Good choice of desserts too, and with a half-litre of wine and 2 coffees the bill...

We arrived to have dinner at 8.10 ( advertised service to 8.45 ) - waiter calls to kitchen, 3 persons for dinner?, reply NO! Just the sort of attitude that puts people off coming to this beautiful bur generally inhospitable part of France. No attempt to maintain what was but is fast disappearing : a good food reputation in France.

This quaint little family-owned hotel is about what you would expect from a two-star hotel off the N7 in Central France. While the room was a bit chilly at first, the in-room heater warmed things up quickly. The bathroom was a bit tired-looking, but very well lit, with lots of amenities. Strong wifi and good (3G) phone service were a...

Not great to look at but extremely friendly helpful staff. Bit tired looking but you don't notice it after the warm welcome, lovely food, great wines and the really cute animals in the attached park. Worth the detour from the motorway for overnight stop.

3 of us (family group) used this as a stop-off to break the long drive down from Calais to the south of France, and the same on the way back. Did the same last year. Nothing has changed except the 3 deer in the park have now become 1 deer & 2 alpacas. The rooms are clean, reasonably spacious and...

Good things - friendly and courteous staff, rooms are well proportioned, free wi-fi, convenient location, adequate breakfast. Not so good - beds hard and uncomfortable, shower head not attachable for stand up shower, gloomy furnishings and lighting, wi-fi pretty slow, noisy traffic if you are given rooms with balconies at front (Not worth the additional price). Breakfast expensive and should...

We went there for a family lunch. Food is traditional food for the area. Quantity is plentiful and service efficient. The owner came a couple of times to ask us whether everything was OK and it was. My only complaint is that the cheese board did look tired and could have done with a refresh. The gourmet children menu with...
