We stayed here for a week in early October. Our apartment was small and basic but charming, part of the converted stables around the farmhouse in the central courtyard. Don't expect all mod cons, no kettle, tv or products, but there is good wifi and a very warm welcome from the lovely Anna whose cooking was excellent. We ate there...

We stayed here for a few days in October and we were a little disappointed. The house and courtyard are beautiful but the rooms we stayed in (a converted farm building) were dark and quite cold. The "included" breakfast consisted of dried "tost" in a cellophane packet and packets of biscuits. There was fresh coffee, so we could make our...

We loved this agriturismo. Our family of 7 stayed in a wonderful huge 300 year old house on the property with tons of charm. The highlight and best meal of our trip was the wonderful dinner prepared by Chef Maria--all homemade, the most incredible lasagna and homemade lava cake dessert. Better than any restaurant. It was a great location for...

Just being in this traditional setting of converted farm buildings is thrilling! The location is remote, fragrant, just the sound of birds and breeze. The conversions have all the amenities like air conditioning. The homemade food is divine. My favorite of all the agriturismi I have stayed in! Constance, Portland, Oregon

We had the tremendous pleasure and luck of staying in this agriturismo. The premises are enchanting on so many levels. A typical old Sicilian Villa with gardens, an oil press, a pool, and all the basic room amenities you can require. Do not expect lush soft-furnishings, TVs etc. We were actually surprised that there was Wifi. This Villa is for...

The apartment was nice, spotlessly clean - but very small shower and rather poor cooking facilities. We stayed in October/Novemeber and were really cold in the evenings and at night. Anna makes delicious meals - good value - very filling. You don't need lunch. However... Villa Zottopera really is a long way from EVERYWHERE. It is rural. Lonely? They have...

We had been there 8 years ago and we wanted to return because we remembered the beauty and peaceful atmosphere. We stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. Wandering around the courtyard, chapel, olive grove etc was wonderful. Kids loved the pool and the wifi. It was lovely being able to collect eggs from the henhouse and pick whatever vegetables etc we wanted from the garden. The staff were friendly and the evening dinners were delicious. You have to...

Very peaceful old olive oil farm. Fantastic enthusiastic hosts who were keen to show us their farm, olive oil, and helped us pick their fresh vegetables from their vegetable garden and eggs from the hen coop for our cooking. Dinner as cooked by the host was mostly nice but expensive.

VILLA Zottopera is an old 17th-18th century villa surrounded by century old olive trees from which a renowned oil is obtained. The villa has an elegant area with garden and swimming pool and it is located in the countryside of Chiaramonte Gulfi (RG) in a place that is interesting for its art and culture: Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Agrigento, Siracusa, Noto, Caltagirone, etc. Only a half hour's drive from some lovely beaches, Villa Zottopera is a wonderful agriturismo, a very well preserved example of a grand, farm estate. It's a really good base for easy days out to discovery "real" Sicily. The lovely historical towns of Comiso, Ragusa Ibla, Modica , incredible Baoque towns of Sicily's south-east corner, and yet more fantastic beaches, are within striking distance. One of our favourite towns in Sicily, Caltagirone, is only about 24 Km and, famous for ceramics, it is exactly as one might imagine a Sicilian town be, almost as if leapt out of a film Guests can taste the simple and tasty dishes of the local farmer and stay in suggestive comfortable suite-flats. The Villa with the old buildings adjoining it and the Sicilian courtyard (baglio), the little church, the garden, the swimming pool, give an unforgettable moment of suggestive and poetic atmosphere, as well as a simple and friendly climate, thanks to the small number of guests and to our discrete company and careful service .Courses: Preparation of typical products of the traditional Sicilian cuisine - tasting of olive oil. Ray loves Villa Zottopera atmosphere, its location in "the heart of Baroque " and the wonderful owners. Close to picturesque Ragusa Ibla, Comiso , and half an hour from some of Sicily's most beautiful sandy beaches, Villa Alfredo is a grand farm estate. It's a really good base for easy days out to discover "real " Sicily. The lovely historical town of Ragusa Ibla and Modica is only 8km away, and the incredible Baroque towns of Sicily's south-east corner, and yet more fantastic beaches, are within striking distance. One of our favourite towns in Sicily, Caltagirone, is only about 24km and, famous for ceramics, it is exactly as one might imagine a Sicilian town should be, almost as if it has leapt out of a film. Run by the lovely owners, Villa Zottopera is a wonderful place, which exudes character. There is an old olive press, a fine example of a traditionally decorated cart and a little church. This whole masseria is steeped in history. Villa Zottopera agritourist apartments are in converted farm-workers' houses, off the courtyard. They are Sicilian and rustic, tasteful, and with fairly simple kitchen areas. Most have a terrace, some leading on to the garden, near the pool, which is in a lovely walled garden, with seats dotted about, under trees. There is a cultivated area, where guests are welcome to pick vegetables or fruit in season. You can also collect fresh eggs for breakfast on occasions! Just watch the wide beam on your children's faces as you do. Also very much family-run, Villa Alfredo restaurant feels special and intimate, as they cater only for guests of the apartments. In summer, diners eat on the charming terrace, al fresco. The family is passionate about Sicilian cuisine and the excellent, home-cooked, traditional food is delicious. Past clients have also really enjoyed the cookery courses, which are great fun. Villa Zottopera is a fantastic agriturismo, in every sense of the word. ... more   less
