Located in the tourist hotspot of the island, Ban Dondet within walking distance to the boat pier. Lots of restarants and bars are easy to reach. The location (and island) is peaceful and quiet at night, nothing around you but the sound of the jungle. Baba was very welcoming and helpful. No problem to get a kettle for your room if you need. Rooms are nice, balcony with river view and all you need. No breakfast but there are many options around.

Decent choice for Don Det but on retrospect I would have paid a little extra to stay in one of the other hotel-style accommodations on the island. Good points were the view of the river, the effective aircon, decent wifi, the cleanish room and having your own balcony. Downsides are the rock hard mattress (and just two thin pillows on a massive bed) and the balcony furniture being two hard wooden chairs. I really craved somewhere to lounge / relax in comfort when staying staying here. A couple of big cushions would make all the difference! Nowhere to refill water bottles at the accommodation itself (they provided a large bottle of water each day, but I try not to use extra plastic if I can avoid it), but the restaurants and bars opposite allow refills for a small fee.

Very good and nice guesthouse just outside the crowded center of Don Det. Spacious and clean rooms with nice furniture, great bathroom en kingsize beds, although a bit hard - fot those who love it. Otherwise you simply mention it and staff will try to solve your problem. The riverview, of course, is outstanding.

There are a lot of accommodation choices on Don Det, most of which are very basic rooms or bungalows overlooking the river (some with a fan). If you want a really large clean and comfortable room with an AC option, then a few extra pounds is probably worth it at BABA guesthouse. Beautiful garden, your own personal balcony and a very pretty terrace over the river. A short walk to lots of restaurants and bars, but nice and quiet in the evening. We loved it

Pros: - very well maintained, super clean - perfect location: walking distance from boats and ‘centre’ of Don Det but very quiet and peaceful - 1st floor rooms offer fabulous Mekong views - good airco and fan - many people write about the hard beds. True, but I slept like an angel - breakfast places just next door - excellent website with great information

Perfect location, really close to everything. Only had breakfast here on our last day (not included in room price) and it was the best breakfast we had on Don Det. Really liked that water and toilet paper was left outside room every morning by the time we got up( think they forgot one morning only). Couple of cobwebs and spiders in bathroom and matress possibly too firm but that didn't really bother us. Aircon was the best we've had in Asia! Would definitely stay again.

We arrived here without a reservation which wasn't a problem and an upstairs room was available. We loved the private balcony and the river view from the room. The room was clean and comfortable. Wet room style bathroom, could possibly do with a really decent scrub right into the corners but was perfectly fine for us. Easy walk to/from the boat dock and restaurants. Don Det itself did not wow us but this was our little oasis!

Being a budget backpacking couple we haven’t stayed in many accommodations that aren’t hostels and so decided to treat ourselves to the slightly more expensive Baba guesthouse. We found that the room was very clean with a mosquito net, had a fantastic river view and balcony, and was close enough to all of the bars, restauraunts and tour companies on Don Det for a convenient base. The owner was helpful and attentive, although perhaps could provide more services for the amount charged (e.g. tour bookings or breakfast). Would recommend for couples looking to have a few days to themselves.

We stayed here for six nights in May and were very glad we did. There are a handful of rooms in a big solid building overlooking the river, just at the edge of town. It’s a great location - 5 minute walk to anywhere you want to eat or drink, but far enough away that you don’t hear any noise. We met lots of people looking for accomodation with aircon and a roof that doesn’t leak - unlike most of the little bungalows on the island Baba’s ticks both boxes. This is especially important at this time of year where temperatures are at their highest and downpours are common. The room was fantastic with a great shower, heaps of space, big bed and private balcony. The wifi worked well and we didn’t have any problems. Our only suggestion would be to provide filtered water instead of single use plastic drink bottles. We 100% recommend staying at Baba’s. …

We had a first floor room which was soacous, clean, with good shower and balcony which overlooked the Mekong. Sitting watching life on the river was very relaxing and the best view we’ve had. We were able to continue benefitting from the view over breakfast in the clean and fresh seating area next to the river. Before arriving on Don Det people had advised us to have a bungalow. We have had some negative experiences with this type of accommodation and so opted for the guesthouse and so pleased we did particularly when we heard people complaining about water issues, dirty bedding and large spiders in their bungalows. It was well worth spending a little extra for BaBa. Only negative is the bed is very hard like many SEA beds.
