Dalom Guesthouse looks forward to welcoming you on your visit to Don Det.
A wonderful big clean room with a glorious hot shower - much needed for two stinking travellers! I did however leave a personal item behind and can’t seem to find contact details to see if it was found. Please get in touch with me Dalom, it would be much appreciated! Xx
DON’T GO HERE! The people of the guesthouse ripped me off for 200.000 kip when I used their ATM services. Be very careful with them, bad people. I reccomend not visiting this guesthouse. There are way better options like Champka Mekong Bungalows.
Dalom Guesthouse is situated right in the centre of Don Det with all the main eateries and bars right within reach - particularly handy if walking home as there is no street lighting on the island. I stayed in a twin bed bungalow - it was comfortable - mosquito net, mostly quiet, comfortable mattress and hot shower. Towels and breakfast were provided which was also a nice bonus. Of particular note I have to say I cannot rate the family who run the guesthouse highly enough. I am travelling solo and unfortunate as it is inevitable, I ended up getting really really sick. I had to miss my bus to Cambodia and stay a few days in Don Det to recover. It would have been a million times worse if I had not had the support of the staff here. They went to the pharmacy and got me all the necessary things I needed. They kept checking in on me and they made me some rice soup as it was the only thing I could manage to eat. I am so thankful. So for location, price and hospitality I would definitely recommend Dalom to anyone visiting Don Det!…
lovely place with nice and big rooms for a good value. very lovely and good english speaking staff. very good located near the centre but quiet. great restaurant with a good range of western and local dishes to good prices
We stayed at the bungalows and it was good value for money. (Tip: Do not book online as it's cheaper when you walk-in). The bungalows where okay and they had mosquito net. The bathroom was enough for what we needed and the bed comfortable. There were some bugs but as expected on an island in Laos. Wifi wasn't working half of the time but it was just because electricity in the island is usually on and off. Food was okay and the staff was nice (although sometimes slightly lazy..). Overall I'd recommend.
We stayed here for 2 nights in a triple room with A/C. The room was located on the top floor- (although there isn't much in a way of a view). The room itself was spacious, comfortable beds. Hot and cold showers worked fine. WiFi worked fine in our room. The staff were friendly and helpful, they rent out bikes for cheap, you could cycle/run the whole island without a problem. At the reception area, for a cheap price you can fill up your bottle with cold water, also free teas and coffees. Location is ideal, near the ferry landing, close to cafes, shops etc.... We were pretty relaxed staying here, but then again you're in Don Det. Anywhere is relaxing....:P
Stayed here for 2 nights in a bungalow. Bungalows are run down, tired and old, in need of a good clean and some work doing to them. Booked online at excessive prices for the island. Did have a good shower though and on the sunrise side of island right by the landing pier. Much better value to be had on the sunset side of the island where you can get a better bungalow at half the price right on the river. They have a brick guesthouse also but didn't stay in that as its even more overly priced
The hotel is located near the boat launch. 80000 kip for a nice room and a warm shower. Surprisingly there were no mosquitoes. The staff was very polite and homey. Ria was the hostess and she was very charismatic personable. She asked me to hang out with her and some friends.amazing people and awesome vibes. Wish I could've spent more time there.
Stayed there 3 nights, shared a room with a friend. The room was huge, comfortable, clean and we had the best shower! Great value for money, we payed 80,000 for the room. It's centrally located but quiet. Stuff are nice. Wifi pretty strong, also works at the room. I also liked the free coffee and tea. The only downside is that they don't have a view..
The staff were very friendly on our arrival and we were lucky to get a triple room (one double, one single). The beds are very big and the room was clean and spacious. Hot showers at all times! We chose a fan room because it was cheaper- it was still quite warm at night but AC rooms are available if you can afford the extra money! Only problems were the wifi (connection poor most of the time in our room) and the bathroom tended to flood easily after showering! However we really enjoyed our stay here! Location is great close to all amenities and the ferry point. Free tea and coffee in the mornings. Very reasonably priced (Triple room was 100,000 kip/night). Having spoken to other travellers, Dalom seems to be among the best on the island!
