All I have to say is, I have to totally agree with Mark C from Catterick, we stayed in 2019 and felt the same and spent two weeks at AGV this September and loved every day of it, we rebooked the same large room facing the mountains with a totally private large balcony, the pool side area with bar, fresh food cooked of high quality, hosts Jimmy and his family are there on hand serving drinks, meals and will help you out anyway they can. We have rebooked already for next year, same room. Alykes has a beautiful beach, bars and restaurants and when your ready stroll back up up to AGV, ten minutes sit and have a drink at Jimmy's Bar. Highly recommended. Laszlo G England

We stayed here again for 2 weeks and had a nice room (number 5) on the first floor overlooking the pool They have new sunbeds around the pool with very comfortable mattress. Good bar serving hot/cold drink and food. 10/15 stroll into Alykes. Now then. I feel I must comment on Ann review. Ann, this is a 3 star self catering accommodation. The cooking facilities in the room are basic like in nearly all Greek self catering accommodation. If you want to cook a meal (why on earth you want to do that when you have all those wonderful tavernas in the village I don't know) and have a full kitchen with dining table and chairs, then you should have stayed in a villa. Theres nothing wrong with this place. It doesn't score 4.5 out of 5 for nothing! Anyway, we enjoyed our stay and looking forward to seeing Jimmy and Soula again soon

The cost of the air conditioning is extortionate - I cancelled after one night, the owner tried to charge me some kind of tax, however after about an hour of reasoning he agreed to refund on a pro rata basis. The lock to my accommodation was faulty and we couldn't get in, I was told that "I needed the knack". Every time I needed to open the door I had to track the owner down to let me in. Eventually after 4 days the lock was replaced. Anyone expecting a self catering apartment will be disappointed because this certainly isn't, there was no oven, no microwave - just 2 hob rings. There is only a plastic table and chairs (outside) to eat a meal on. No table and chairs inside. Very few cooking facilities, 1 saucepan, 1 frying pan and limited to 2 plates etc. There is no food preparation area. The accommodation is basically a cramped bedroom with an insufficient kitchen and a bathroom. (The shower door came off as well!).

This small complex is brilliant great pool and bar , the rooms are excellent and kept very clean with bedding and towels changed daily . Jimmy who runs the place is great very friendly and nothing is too much trouble the whole family team work very hard . The complex is a very easy 10 min walk into Alykes with plenty of restaurants and bars of you could stay and enjoy Jimmy food which is very good and all cooked fresh . Would we go back ! In a heartbeat in fact this might be next years holiday can’t fault it

We came on the 12th of September for 2 weeks. I have to say the best small & friendly complex we have ever stayed in! Rooms are fantastic 👏 kettle toaster double hob massive fridge freezer! The staff really are second to none! JIMMY has to be the most helpful loveliest person we have ever met. Soula is the hostess with the mostest ❤️ and mother is just the most beautiful person! I really dont understand how anyone can find any negatives with AGV? If you want a big room book a big room? If you want a smaller yet moderner room then book it? If someone sorts your problems out don't knock the time it took to sort them be appreciative that they did! Jimmy is the most approachable person who really will go above and beyond! Some people ( who are in the minority may I add) really sound like scrooge Macduff 😁 I will write another review when we get home but until then: Rooms clean & well equipped Ambiance second to none Sun set 👍 Quirks ie cockerails n dogs make the stay If you want to eat & drink here then do so . Food is amazing drinks good priced for the location ( have to mention the tatzicki which is to die for) Honestly I can't recommend the AGV enough! Book it you won't be disappointed ✨️ 😁👍❤️

Extortionate charge for air con and extra charge for safety deposit box. The key to our room would not unlock the door- we were told by the owner that we "needed the knack" to open the door, after 4 days he finally changed the lock. The shower door broke. The rooms are sold as self-catering- they do not have facilities for self catering. No oven, only 2 hob rings, no microwave and extremely limited basic utensils, not even a table inside the accommodation- very poor if anyone has to cook re dietary needs. Nothing was provided to enable you to clean up after a meal.

We stayed at AGV for 7 nights. The room was immaculate and cleaned daily. The pool area is lovely and pool clean. The only issue we had was the price of things on site. We were charged €16 per night for air conditioning and the prices in the pool bar were much more expensive than anywhere else we visited in Alykes. Overall a beautiful place but prices at the pool bar need to be brought in line with other hotels.

Visited AGV with my husband and 2 girls aged 12 and 3 for 2 weeks at the end of the summer holidays. Overall we found the hotel to be an excellent base for our holiday. The room was basic but fine for us. We had a double bed and 2 separate sofa beds for the kids which were comfy enough. The kitchen area was basic but we only used it for making cereal and toast for breakfast and the odd sandwich for lunch. Bathroom typically Greek complete with shower curtain that was not quite long enough and resulted in the floor getting flooded every time it was used. Having said that the pressure in the shower was great and there was never a shortage of hot water. Had a lovely large terrace overlooking the mountains. The maid service was excellent, they really kept the place immaculate and made the beds up every day it was a pleasure to come home to after a day out at the beach. The pool area was very clean as well and the pool was a lovely size for swimming in, the new sun beds are super comfy. As others have said though there were sunbed issues and when we first arrived we found that by 8 in the morning all the beds were reserved despite there never really being anyone around until midday. I even heard one story where a couple had reserved beds on both sides of the pool so they could swap halfway through the day to get the best of the shade. Shame on them!! The walk to the beach was fine (even with a 3yr old in tow) and especially pleasant in the evening when it was not too hot. Whilst we were there we hired a car for a week which I would highly recommend doing as we were able to explore all the other beautiful and less crowded beaches on the island. Highlight for the kids was that we also bought a weekly pass for the water park that was about 15 min drive away, much better value than a day ticket and meant we could pop in for a couple of hours on our way past before or after a daytrip somewhere. There are also amazing tavernas a short drive away from Alykes that feel much more authentic than you find in the resort itself. Zante town is also worth a visit! We had a wonderful 2 weeks and would recommend AGV to friends. The only negatives were some of the costs in the hotel ….. price of the aircon 15 Euros a night (is this really just down to increased costs?) and 5 Euros a night for a safe just felt like a huge amount of money. Bar prices were extortionate, small glass of local wine for 4.5 Euros whereas in most of the restaurants you could get 0.5l for 5 Euros. And lastly got caught out with the breakfast buffet. Had arrived late the previous evening and not had a chance to go to the shop so had the breakfast buffet. Only to be charged 40 euros!!! I mean 10 euros for an adult fair enough as I had juice, coffee, a hot breakfast and some pastry, but also charging 10 euros for my 3 year old to eat about 5 mouthfuls of cornflakes left a very sour taste in the mouth! I noted that there were not many people having drinks by the pool during the day and hardly anyone in the bar of an evening and would suggest that is why. We would certainly have had some more had the prices been more in line with the rest of Alykes! If the costs had been more reasonable this would have been a 5* review as it really is a lovely place in every other way.
