We booked a two night stay this weekend at very short notice. Great communication from Gaynor through emails. Arrived to a beautiful room, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Gaynor and Stevehave thought of everything you would need in your room, right down to a big choice of speciality teas in your hospitality tray. Beautiful gardens to sit on of an evening. So much storage space! Breakfast was Steve's domain, great host great chef. Fantastic breakfast. Cannot recommend this place enough, great atmosphere, beautiful rooms , tasty big breakfast and fantastic staff who really care about your stay. We will be back.

We visited the Cambrian, just for one night while covid restrictions were still on. Rules were all followed and Staff were friendly and helpful. A little disappointed we didn't get to try the lovely menu but if breakfast was anything to go by we definitely will next time. Room was clean and we had an amazing sea view (with binoculars provided)

I can't see how anyone could not fall in love with this place. Although we didn't stay at the hotel, we heard lots of great things about the rooms, and myself and my five friends quickly became regulars at The Cambrian bar and restaurant the week we visited New Quay. The bar and restaurant areas are great, very clean, very homely, and within minutes of walking in you feel like you are at home. It also has a great outside area too. The food - wow - we had breakfast and evening meals most nights, its so good and so well priced. The staff make it what it is. Steve, Etienne, and Shannon really looked after us when we were there, and treated us as friends, as they did with all the guests who were there. This is a great, traditional venue, exactly what a Great British Bar and Restaurant should be. We will 100% be visiting New Quay again, and one of the main reasons is The Cambrian. Only difference is we'll be staying next time! Absolutely love the place. A must visit for anyone in town.

Staff friendly enough on arrival, but when my steak arrived it wasn’t cooked as requested, rare to medium. It was well done. Politely told the waitress about it who was very ‘off’ with us and took it back to the kitchen. She then brought it back saying the chef has said it’s been cooked to temperature and asked if I was sure I wanted a replacement!! I confirmed I did. Next thing we know the chef comes over and says she cut it in the middle and it was pink where it was thickest and repeated she had cooked it to temperature, she was very defensive and then asked how I wanted it cooked this time so I said blue to rare (expecting it to then be rare to medium) when it came out it was medium to well. The waitress came and asked how it was so I said it wasn’t cooked right still but I would eat it (my partner was half way through her meal at this point and I was hungry) she actually walked off muttering to herself before I’d even finished my sentence. At the end of the meal the owner came over to see what our problem was, so we explained and also mentioned the rude waitress. He actually told us it was illegal to sell a steak blue because of the temperature. We had looked up on the internet by this point to check the temperatures we had been quoted and they had got them all wrong anyway. We also looked up what a rare or blue steak should look like because the chef clearly doesn’t have a clue! Also, if it’s illegal then why did she agree to cook it blue!! We then felt they were trying to get rid of us by bringing the bill over before we asked for it, we were actually enjoying the wine and chatting with another family who had a bad experience there the day before so we ordered another bottle. When we came to leave the steak was still on our bill, despite the owner saying we wouldn’t be charged so the the barman took it off. Whilst we were paying the owner brought over our empty bottles and slammed them down on the bar next to us and walked off. It’s a shame because even though the steak was a let down we would have returned regularly for other meals and definitely have spent a lot on drinks…. We know how much pubs make on a bottle of wine! Their hostility and rudeness has cost them future business, not just from us. Bad move in these times when most places are bending over backwards to rebuild their businesses.
