My advice to the reader is to visit West Farm, Appledore whenever in North Devon. It is a most delightful family home and the welcome given by Gail & Peter Sparkes warm and kind. Peter meets those travelling by rail at Barnstaple station. On your arrival Gail is at the house to greet you and show you to your room(s)....

We stayed here for 3 nights and agree that the place was clean and the bedroom (garden room) very comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent. Although Gail provided early morning tea, the lack of tea making facilities was an inconvenience. But the overriding factor was the ever present smell of cigarette smoke in the house.

We stayed at the West Farm only 1 night, but would have enjoyed to stay longer. Our room, the one with the half poster, was very large, quiet and comfortable. The ensuite bathroom fine. Everything clean. Gail treated us to her wonderful Christmas cake on arrival. Peter took his car out of the garage so that we could put our...

We stayed at West Farm with Gail and Peter (the hosts) in July, it was our 3rd visit. The house is just yards from the sea in the quaint village of Appledore. We just love the Garden Room, comfy beds, lots of space to spread out and one’s own entrance door out to the garden, and what a garden! It’s...

Another excellent trip to North Devon, made every bit worthwhile by Peter and Gale at West Farm. Situated in the old fishing village of Appledore, West Farm is a beautiful property, with stunning gardens, and excellent facilities. Guests are made most welcome, and are offered "a breakfast to die for." I have been a regular guest at West Farm during...

We booked in here for our anniversary and intended to stay for 3 nights, however, after one night decided to leave and find another B&B. We were welcomed into the property by Gail's Husband. As soon as the front door was opened it became apparent that the property was not a no smoking property as advertised in the brochure. Peter...

What a gem of a place ! Gail was most welcoming bringing us tea in her beautiful garden. The room was first class, spacious, light and tastefully decorated with very comfy beds! bathroom excellent also ,although a shower would be a great addition. Breakfast was undoubtedly the best we have EVER had, good quality, well cooked and wonderfully presented and...

I have just come back from a three-night stay at West Farm, and I couldn't recommend it more highly. It's in a lovely location, just steps from the sea and from a very welcoming pub, and only a few minutes walk from the centre of this delightful small fishing town. My room - not en suite but with my own...

I booked a two night stay for myself and my husband at West Farm for the nights of 17th and 18th September, I had read the other Trip Advisor reviews prior to booking and must say, we were not disappointed. West Farm was easy to find but it became apparent very quickly that parking at the front of the property...

“All rooms are charming and Gail will assess your requirements on making your reservation. Each room for guests has its' individual character and sense of welcome and comfort. The location of West Farm offers peace and quiet and to come out of the house on to the waterside and look out over the Estuary with its wide view is a tonic and delight in itself!!”
