For starters, we emailed the hotel to enquire about the pick up from the ferry terminal but no answer. But a day before the trip, we received a text from Pak Hendra about our time of arrival and will pick us up. Check in was a breeze and we were recommended by him to check out Ciuyong Seafood Kelong for our dinner which cost IDR250.000 return trip. The freshness of the seafood was amazing. We tried the blood cockles, which was massive! The next day we went to Tanjung Pinang which costs IDR800.000 return trip. We were driven around by one of the drivers, Avin who was very accommodating and professional. Great hospitality! Not much amenities around except for Plaza Lagoi which was super dead. Villa wise, its nature themed so expect mosquito bites. Overall its a great retreat from the busy life.

Came here for a long weekend away with my darling, via Singapore. All good for flights and transferring to the ferry terminal. The 40 minute boat ride seemed calm to us but still lots of vomit bags for the other passengers. On arrival no one to meet us as promised despite every other hotel being represented in the arrivals corridor. The room was just ok for the price. Pleasant private pool and lounge/dining area with a comfy AC bedroom. But few expected things such as extra pool towels, bath mats, cutlery, glasses. Breakfast was brought to the room- basic Indo or Western fare. Service ok, but communication not great for us monolingual folk. But here’s the catch: Lagoi resort town was absolutely dead. We half expected zombies to appear in The Plaza Square , such was it’s deserted state. Despite this the band played on (to three people). This meant nowhere to eat except the Yeah lounge and bar or from the resort provided hawkers huts near the Plaza of the Dead. The last insult was the walk on the lovely white sandy beach was spoilt by the clods of oil and tar! The (fading and peeling) hoardings and advertising signs for developments to come suggests we might have come here 20 years too soon but the sad and tired infrastructure maybe says we were 5 years late. We cut our losses and went back for a last night in Singas instead.

Planned for a two nights three night golf trip in bintan for the New Year. Was able to find Lagoi Bay Villas as the most reasonably price stay so decided on staying for two nights. Pros. The private villa is spacious. You get a private pool which is great for bintan. You can have your breakfast inside the room. Also they partner with a local massage place which you can have your massage inside your room. It is more secure. The local is a minute walk to Lagoi Plaza there are a few local groceries where you can stack up with bintan beers or order a takeaway for some local Chinese Malaysia noodles Cons: It’s a bit old, the floors damage are very obvious. I wished that Lagoi villas had fix them. That would have been nicer. The breakfast go for the local nasi fried rice breakfast. The American style egg and toast breakfast was not really edible. Lastly when you check your bill. Make sure to check each items. The staff may intentionally or unintentionally make mistakes. Pricewise it was a bit high although that is what you get in Bintan. I would try to look at other location in the same price range.

Stayed there for 3d 2n. 2-4 dec 1 old facilities and insects galore -the villa was generally quite old and - there were quite alot of insects, including bird poo on the sofa. I think the birds pooed in the night. -toilets have small flies too so keep the door shut. I had to use the hanger to 'lock' it as the toilet door wasn't able to shut. - the room door was also hard to open n close. - the wardrobe has a smell to it, somewhat similar to smelly shoes. - I itched when sleeping on the bedsheets. might not be very clean. - pool didn't look v clean. make sure u clear your breakfast plates as the ants come fast. 2. a chill place with not much to doo - nothing much to do nearby as it seemed like a near ghost town after the Aug 2019 marathon. 3. expensive to travel around - to leave the place on a chartered car to eat elsewhere cost us 250,000. - hotel staff recommended for us to eat at a kelong so we took the car ride there. food there wasn't nice and v v pricey. so not worth the car ride. 4. tour to Fireflies is not too bad. 5. kids were sting despite the mosquito patch. 6. staff was v friendly. 7. breakfast was not fantastic

To Management/Bookers, My check in confirmation stated the check in time was 1000-1200hours, but when we arrived they told us it’s 1400hours. We nicely pointed out on our confirmation that it stated 1000hours, however they said that the earliest was 1200hours which alright leave it so we went for early lunch. The nice driver brought us out to eat etc, his customer service was good. Note to bookers: The villa is good for a private getaway, and is quiet. That I would have to say. However.. At 2000hours when the rain stopped and it was too hot we realised the aircon in the room was spoilt and after one hour plus of the in house engineer rectifying this issue he could not fix it. In the first place all we asked for was a standing fan as we didn’t want to inconvenience anyone at that hour, so they finally agree to change to another villa. Do note that it was an unmade dirty villa. Out of good will, we still tipped the engineer and the staffs who assisted with the villa move. We were granted a check out of 1300hours but it seems because our villa was moved (which was not even our fault) they insisted we check out at 1200hours instead. Even at towel was sent an hour late and they expect us to rush our check out. So tell me.. Is it fair for us? We didn’t even make a sound or complained since yesterday, every assistance given we appreciated them and even thanked them as we didn’t want to spoil our anniversary get away with a foul mood. But it reached a point it is too much already. In the first place, can you imagine almost 2 hours in the spoiled aircon room with staffs going in/out your villa when all you wanted was a private getaway. Isn’t that why we booked this villa instead of another resort? Regards, Danica/James
