My husband and I have just returned from a short break at this hotel. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and breakfast superb. Our room was spotless with lovely comfy beds. The whole place was well heated which was good as the weather was a little chilly. Thank you all for a pleasant stay.

Came for lunch on our way through. Ordered three adult meals and two kids meals. Got three kids meals and two adult. Burgers were slightly undercooked. The meals arrived at different times with the first and last separated by eight minutes. Portions were ok but it all seemed slightly haphazard and disorganised. It seems like a chain pub with no real management guidance. We won’t be going back.

Kings head is old character building with uneven floors big rooms I would imagine expensive to maintain which is why I marked as four as present owners still getting to grips with this task but so far so good. What you cannot fault was the cleanliness of the bedrooms and general hotel and pub areas. Staff friendly and Peter was very attentive and ensured all was satisfactory. Emma the head cook produced the best English breakfasts and her steak and ale pie was superb. We were lucky to be there when the locals did open mike night guitar jamming with us as backing singers fantastic talent and night we had a lovely stay. The hotel has ground floor cottage room which would be suitable for disabled guests.

Called in after being very disappointed with the Royal Oak at Gillamoor and found ‘opposite service’. Very accommodating and lovely straight forward food. Very pleasant service. Great courtyard outside. Friendly staff. Recommended.
