Lovely room and very cheerful helpful staff. serves real ale in the bar and on my visit had an excellent band playing in the bar. Would definitely use again. Got a deal on booking.com which made the room excellent value

As regards the dog, check with the Hotel. There were people with dogs sat in the beer-garden but I don't know if they were staying there. Yes there are plenty of walks to cater for all.
