My hubby booked a overnight stay for a birthday surprise. The room was lovely, everything you would need. Lovely friendly staff, we had an evening meal which was Huge!! the food was delicious. The bed was so comfy and the room so quiet we had a great nights sleep. There was a good choice at breakfast, I'm gluten free and... More

Not sure what more I can add from all my other reviews of the Lion Inn. This place is an absolute favorite of ours and over the many years we have been coming to northern England we always schedule a strop here. When you come in the door, the atmosphere is warm and inviting and usually packed with hikers and... More

First, let me say that it's a blessing to find an inn in the Moors, so when we're walking lots of things can be forgiven just for being the only inn for miles. That said...our room was soooo tiny we had to coordinate who goes to the bathroom in order to get around each other. There's very little space to... More

Although there was some miscommunication about our reservation due to poor cellphone reception, the staff did everything they could to make us comfortable after a long day of hiking in the cold. The next morning, the owner was kind enough to give us a lift to the train station and we couldn't have been more grateful. I would definitely recommend... More

Fantastic country Pub on the top of the North Yorkshire Moors. Cosy stone built pub, with a good selection of beers including Old Peculiar, huge meals good enough to fill up the most energetic walkers or cyclists. The bar area takes dogs that serves food and hot drinks and there is a large restaurant area to the side of the... More

We were staying in Pickering and my boyfriend knew the pub from his childhood. A good traditional homely pub! I can only imagine what it's like in the winter with the fires on! Very comfortable atmosphere, some great beers and drinks and proper home made food. It gets pretty busy because of its reputation and all the above reasons. We... More

First of all, absolutely fabulous location. I recommend walking to it from somewhere farther west--it's on the Coast to Coast path. Stone interior of bar and restaurant is lovely and evocative of its long history. Hotels rooms are comfortable, sadly not stone but modern, but with nice views of the moors. Food is fine, excessively large portions but better than... More

Had a lovely night at The Lion. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. Food was good, room was clean and comfy. The bathroom had a double shower and was a wet room with lots of space for disabled users We would certainly stay again
