Went for lunch on Saturday. Good points - food cooked fresh and was tasty. Negatives - food overpriced. Fish and chips - number of chips you could count on 2 hands, only one veggie option. Generally expensive for what you got. Staff generally lovely, one young girl and an older gentleman very pleasant. Another older lady needed a bit of work on her customer service skills, not exactly service with a smile. The building itself is tired and in need of refurb. In summary, will not return.

Was disappointed to be served with raw dumplings and no vegetables or potatoes. The menu description was Braised Beef Stew, Cheese Dumplings and Vegetables £15.50 but it did not live up to expectations. The manager gave a small discount when we brought it to his attention but did not seem agreeable or make us feel at ease. The staff served the food and disappeared so we had to wait until the end of the meal to discuss this, and three of our party chose this dish.

Over the years, had visited several times for coffees, teas, sandwich lunches. This time we came for Sunday roast (beef & Yorkshire). Very much enjoyed ourselves - good quality beef, very reasonable pricing, pleasant service, classic ambiance, plus a nice drop of Black Sheep (I think it was). Will certainly return for another roast. Would have preferred roast vegetables to boiled, but the latter proved perfectly acceptable.

so disappointing it was just not good. ive been before about 8 months ago and it was good hence i went again. the staff and dining room above average but the plates cold the pork was micro thin slices looked like plastic the veg just plonked on plate no separate dishes to choose from the veg was red cabbage and carrot and parsnip cubed very basic. dessert was good well i had room to eat a dessert cos the mains was so poor. ive been in the week in the bar meals fish and chips was excellent. we commented on the meals but were half way thru entertaining and without prompting they refunded one main course but i had invited friends and really bulled it up so was really disappointing.

We live fairly locally, and set off for lunch in another local village, only to find it closed in spite of information to the contrary on their website. Hit upon the Worsley Arms in the next village along, and found a wonderfully warm welcome: blazing fire, nice lunch menu, friendly service, good quality food at reasonable prices. This will be our intended destination in future. (Dog friendly too, we don't have one but two of our fellow diners did.)

I think it would have been rather grand when it was built in 1840. Family run, the manager Sally is a wonderful. Seems to do everything in the hotel. How she finds the energy is a mystery. High ceilings, broad staircases, and corridors. Plenty of parking around the back. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room away from the roadside. The internet worked slowly in the bathroom, not at all in the bedroom. Your teenagers may start a revolution! Telephone and data signal strength in the village is hardly their fault. Bring your book. Strong Wifi downstairs around reception, breakfast, and sitting room for planning your day. Clean and recently decorated, I liked the soft bed. Plug sockets? I've got a 2 metre phone charger cable. The bar serves draught beer in great condition - the cellar man knows what he's doing. This is not a cocktail bar; wine list is adequate and appropriate. A pair of you might exhaust the dinner menu in a couple of days, and the breakfast is exactly what you'd expect - good. They have 'real' kippers, not the factory stuff, if that's your thing. Financially, I've no idea how it keeps going, but that's not my problem … nor yours. A three star hotel at three star prices, no need to get sniffy about it looking a bit 'vin ordinaire'. This is a farming community in North Yorkshire, not Mayfair. We enjoyed staying here. I think it's the kindness that suffused the place. Warm, dry, with access to food and water, it's great from a survival point of view.

We have visited this country hotel on numerous occasions over the last twenty years. We have just returned home from another two night stay. The hotel is steeped in history and full of character. The room allocated to us was across the road from the main hotel building which wasn’t a problem. It was comfortable and quiet. The breakfasts were cooked to order and were of excellent quality and in a lovely setting. We had one evening meal and this was both reasonably priced and delicious. One of the best points of the hotel is the comfortable lounge areas in the hotel away from the bar and restaurant. Finally I would like to commend Tony and Sally and staff for the energy and effort that they they put into running the hotel. We look forward to our next visit.

Had a very pleasant three night stay at this hotel. It is located in an attractive village that is within easy reach of some great attractions. The hotel’s public rooms were welcoming and spacious. The staff were helpful and pleasant with it. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The three evening meals we had were also very good (although the salmon dish was rather spoilt by a cold plate and an indifferent sauce). Our bedroom was well equipped. The bed was comfortable and the central heating did its job. The bedroom and bathroom are both a little ‘tired’ and could do with a makeover, but that would take some investment. Overall the package we had was very good value for money. We hope we can go back.

We stay here every year for 2 or three days on our way to a Golf Society event, usually in the Northumberland area. This is a lovely country style Inn, well maintained, offering an excellent standard of accommodation in this 18th Century building..also as an owner of three at home, dog friendly. Rooms spacious and clean..if you want modern plastic, book a Travelodge or similar..good value, but if you want the warmth and feel of a grand old house..and the warmth of the local 'Yorkies', with their dry sense of humour, over a few pints, this is the place for you. Great freshly prepared breakfasts..go for the 'Full Worsley' and the evening meals in the lovely dining rooms or one of the two bars, are excellent local produce when available. Bit disappointed with a couple of 'Trip' reviews..never EVER, in the years we have stayed here, had anything other than an excellent time with no complaints. Probably a party, who picked up the wrong hotel, when reviewing on 'Trip' or simply post Covid miseries!

The pictures look beautiful but unfortunately found the whole building run down and in need of renovation Did not like the fact you had to pre order breakfast and put a time that you’d be eating ,the service was too rushed also noticed people hadn’t finished their cereal and the cooked food came out. Reception areas very poor not welcoming to sit . The upside was staff were pleasant .
