We visited Matfen last Wednesday 25th January where we had a meal in the library restaurant. The food quality and presentation was excellent for all courses we had. Having eaten here on several occasions with not always good feedback, I have to say on this occasion the meal we had was one of the best we have had for some...

We brought elderly parents to the hotel for Sunday lunch in the Library restaurant. The food was good with very attentive service and a lovely view of the golf course. Very relaxing with drinks and coffee in the lounge and we did not feel under any pressure to rush away after lunch. Overall, a pleasant way to spend a Sunday!

This was a birthday celebration treat for Mum in law. The service was exceptional - friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and well prepared with free WIFI, tea, coffee and biscuits. Meal was very good and the staff handled my wife's vegetarian requirements without fuss. The surrounding parkland was impressive and it would have been even better if...

I bought a gift voucher for afternoon tea for my husband's 50th birthday and we all really enjoyed our afternoon.A good selection of teas / beautiful cakes the scones were lovely and fresh. The sandwiches were really nice too. A beautiful building with so much history made it that extra bit special.

As an ex Front of House Manager I'm always on the look out as soon as I enter any hotel. Reception team attentive and welcoming; the rooms are nice and large as is the bathroom and I had the added surprise of a lovely little terrace outside - shame I was there on a freezing cold day but can imagine...

Excellent spa, golf and dinning along with details of walks supplied by the hotel all starting and ending there.Staff were professional...

Matfen Hall is absolutely stunning in terms of it's views and appearance. Unfortunately, I have to admit the place has potential but just lacks attention to detail. The service was poor and the food average. Sorry to say I will not be recommending to friends.
