We have stayed at The Gables a few times over the years. We find it a perfect retreat to just switch off. Every time we return our stay is as perfect as the last. Angus is so friendly and helpful with suggestions for restaurants and places to visit nothing is too much trouble. You will definitely not be disappointed to...

Top marks for a very fine, luxury B and B in the fantastic Northumberland countryside close to an amazing coast of sand dunes and history... not to mention the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and a vast array of castles. As with other reviewers, I would not hesitate to recommend this superb establishment, with a beautiful building, comfortable rooms, very friendly...

My partner and I have just returned from a two night break at The Gables. It's a beautiful building, and in a lovely secluded place, ideal for a chillax, but also very good for seeing the sights of Northumberland and the borders. From the moment we arrived, Angus the owner, could not have done more to help us settle in....

After reading other reviews was confident this would be a great choice and I was not disappointed. From the minute we arrived to leaving Angus (host) could not do enough. Felt like at times we were staying with a old friend! Very relaxed comfortable surrounding, house is charming, must mention the bed I didn't want to get out of it...

We visited The Gables for two nights (and wished we could stay forever) after booking it online. We were not at all disappointed. A welcome cuppa and cake was enjoyed as we got to know about the home and family. We stayed in a beautifully appointed and spacious room with everything you could possibly require. The ensuite was large, new...

Angus is a great guy and was the perfect host. The room far exceeded our expectations, expertly decorated and furnished. Breakfast was perfect and the rest of the house is very interesting. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and we would love to come back here for a long relaxing break.

Everything was brilliant about The Gables, from the traditional yet modern decor, to the more than welcoming owner. I couldn't fault the place if I tried. I would highly recommend and intend on visiting again.

Lovely stay at the Gables. Beautiful setting and Angus the host was extremely helpful. Rooms were very spacious and only 20 mins to Berwick despite its rural setting. Would definitely stay here again although is price is top end for a b&b.

Took a 4 night break here. Angus, Claire and family could not be more welcoming. This former vicarage built in 1875/6 is wonderfully appointed and decorated sympathetically. There are only 2 rooms...very quiet and a good jumping off point for the Northumberland coast.Great breakfasts. Knowledge of the local area and enthusiasm. Highly recommended

Last minute booking for us but so glad we picked it! The welcome we had off Claire was amazing a fresh pot of tea and cake was very warm and welcoming. Angus cooked us an amazing breakfast in the morning and was also very friendly as well as helpful with information on the area. They are both natural hosts which...
