Carden Park Hotel captivates many with its idyllic location near Chester, set amidst beautiful scenery, though some guests suggest it's less accessible without a car. The service receives commendations for attentiveness, with a few hiccups noted in spa booking and mealtime pacing. A chic decor and welcoming atmosphere are celebrated, even as a handful of visitors find the ambiance inconsistent. While rooms are often lauded for their comfort and size, critiques arise over dated aesthetics and noise. Cleanliness standards are generally high, but the value proposition is debated, as some feel prices for accommodation, spa, and dining challenge the hotel's worth. The spa, a highlight for its serenity and luxury, isn't immune to suggestions for enhancement.

Very impressed with the Hotel. We only live 20 mins away but decided to book in with parents as they were visiting. When we arrived I asked where the best place to park would be for our room and was offered valet parking with our bags delivered to our room. Great start! Checked in and chillaxed in 3 minutes. We enjoyed the pool and leisure facilities and then afternoon tea between four adults and a ten year old. Only ordered 2 as we weren’t particularly hungry and were booked for a meal in Chester. They brought five plates/cups/cutlery so we could share it without us asking. Breakfast choice was great and nicely cooked. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Coming back soon to try new spa(which looks amazing)and try some activities.

Lovely Christmas getaway in luxury surroundings with stunning views, the twin bedrooms have two double beds and there are plump white towels and spa products provided in the bathrooms.
Extensive breakfast menu so make sure you check out the special order from the chef of 'smoked haddock with poached eggs'.
Can't wait to visit again this year to try out the new spa faciltiies.

I booked this hotel for our 20th Wedding anniversary as we were unable to go on our planned holiday to Italy. I had upgraded to an estate room and ordered the celebration package.

On arrival we were greeted by a lovely receptionist who explained the Covid guidelines and apologised as they couldn't assist with the luggage which considering the current issues wasn't a problem.

We got to our room and went inside to a lovely clean and bright room with a great view of the golf course and on the side was our celebration package, a bowl of fresh strawberries, a box of chocolates a bottle of champagne on ice and a beautiful bunch of flowers, on top of this there was a small box of chocolates and a card from the hotel congratulating us on our anniversary.

There was no package including dinner but we eat in Redmond's on both nights, the food was very good but is quite expensive, appreciate its a hotel but £16.50 for fish and chips and £30 for an 8oz rib-eye steak and peppercorn sauce is a bit over the top. We had the same waitress on both nights and couldn't have wished for a more pleasant girl, I wish I could remember her name so I could give her a shout out.

The bar area was very nice along with the orangery and patio area, staff were very friendly and wore masks when bringing drinks to the table however once again, and hate to say it, the drinks prices are over the top, £2.50 for a tiny can of coke and £6.00 for a pint of lager they must be making some good profit and as we were told the owner was jetting off to the Seychelles that weekend with his family that would probably explain it when he is likely paying staff the minimum wage.

Breakfast was pretty good and served by the chef due to covid rather than a buffet.

We took advantage of the spa and garden facilities as it had just re-opened, once again the staff were very friendly and helpful and we received a voucher for a free aperol spritz drink. The numbers allowed access were limited and nothing was overcrowded. The garden area is fantastic with 3 large hot tubs and a heated outdoor pool with different jet areas. My wife had an exfoliating back massage which she said was very good. We had afternoon tea as part of the package this was nice but not quite as good as others we have had. I know I keep going on about it but once again the afternoon was expensive especially as you only get 4 hours access. We did this as it was a special occasion but don't think I would spend the money on this next time.

Overall an amazing hotel and would definatley go back again, just need to save up a bit for the food & drinks.

The hotel is very impressive when you drive up to it, we checked in ok it was very busy in Reception and hard to stick to social distancing guidelines but most people had masks on. We got a lovely coutyard room with chairs and a table on a small balcony outside. The bed was very comfy and the towels were thick and lovely and soft
Breakfast was very disappointing, buffet style cooked items that were all cold and felt very like the standard you'd get at a budget style hotel.
The spa is gorgeous, the outside area is amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed using the facilities and our spa treatments. We stayed for lunch and the food wasnt great then either, Ive definitely had much better food at other spas like Woodland spa they really need to improve the quality of it for me to consider going back
Also we really got messed about arranging the times for the treatments and spa access, it was changed several times and we were given conflicting information when enquiring. I do feel like vouchers should have been offered to return as the steam/sauna rooms couldnt be used and for messing us about I asked if we could get a lunch offer or anything to make up for it and got a flat no.
They basically dont make you feel like a valued customer, my advice would be just go to the spa and eat elsewhere !

We have just returned from an overnight spa break. We booked the hotel mainly to use the spa having seen photos on social media. The spa itself is amazing probably the best one we've been too. However the hotel needs some improvement.

Check in was smooth however after paying £340 for a 1 night spa package we found it quite shocking that we were charged £2 per person for masks because we had forgotten to bring ours with us. We were not informed that they would be needed before we arrived.

Our room was average but very clean, however we then had an issue trying to order room service the QR menu wouldn't work which meant we had to wait for someone to deliver us a menu. Once we had ordered food we then got a phone call to say we couldn't charge the food back to the room because no card information was on file even though we had been told on check in that we could charge things back. We then had to call reception to have this resolved. Also the 'Eat out to help out scheme' shouldn't of been advertised on the website as it was very misleading as it didn't include room service but did not state this on the website.

We had dinner in Redmonds restaurant which was very nice. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The only negative were the dirty tables where other guests had left and staff didn't seem to be clearing them.

We then had a few drinks in the bar area however after being told to take a seat we waited 15 minutes and no one come to take our order so we had to go up to the bar ourselves which is very contradicting as there are signs everywhere saying table service only. Once again the QR menu ordering site wouldn't work. Again empty glasses lying around and no staff seemed to be clearing.

Breakfast was really good couldn't fault it. We asked reception about a later check out as our spa package was starting at 1.30pm we were told it would be an extra £10 per hour, not very impressed again after spending so much already.

The spa was the best thing about the hotel we were given complimentary masks in the spa which made me wonder why the hotel charged us £2 per person. I will write a seperate review for the Spa.

Really nice break but for the price the hotel seems to lack basic attention to detail.

I recently spent a night at this hotel with two friends and we were all impressed. We had two interconected rooms both with two Queen sized beds, the rooms were well appointed with a fridge, spacious bathrooms and fantastic black out curtains.

The staff were pleasant and helpful and the public areas were clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant both for the evening meal and breakfast both excellant.

The only downside is that to use the spa that is in the grounds we would have had to book an extra spa package. The spa inside the hotel was adequate for our needs however we would have liked to see an adults only time as it was very noisy with screaming children. We did go in after breakfast on the Sunday and it was relativily child free for a while.

It was not made clear on both the Hotel website and the Booking.com site that there were additional charges to use the new £10M Spa. We spent over £500 for our 2 night stay and yet they wanted a further £100 for 2 of us to use the Spa for just 3 hours. We were left therefore to use the inferior Hotel Leisure Club which was in need of upgrading. Our first visit there was noisy, lively with children and families which is fair enough being half term and family swim time, when we left we enquired when adult only swim time was the following day and were told 12 - 2pm. We arrived at 12.30pm only to find there were a number of children in the pool. The Spa Manager was in attendance as other guests had enquired as to why there were children in the spa area during adult only time. When we spoke to him ourselves he admitted he had lost control of the situation! At 1.20pm another 2 families came into the pool. Obviously the rules were not being adhered to by guests or the Spa staff and Management. This did not make for an enjoyable experience. We also felt the quality of food particularly in the Vines restaurant was not 4 star. The sausages at breakfast were poor quality, surely with the hotel being located in Cheshire good quality sausages from a local farm could be sourced? We also felt the seating in the Vines restaurant was very worn (ripped seats) and required an upgrade. It does seem that a lot of money has obviously been spent on the new Spa leaving the hotel somewhat neglected other than the rooms. I would also suggest that when booking this hotel and wishing to use the new Spa, a Spa Day experience is booked via the hotel website rather than booking a room in the hope of being able to use the Spa as you are likely to be disappointed!.We had breakfast in The Vines on our first morning as we were prevented from proceeding to the main breakfast room by a manager who told us it was very busy and we would have exactly the same breakfast. We were not given the choice to wait, however when we had breakfast in the conservatory the following morning this was not the case. Eg more food choice, pancake and coffee machines plus the wonderful view. We also raised the issue of mobile phones being used in the pool area and photographs being taken in the changing rooms which did not sit comfortably with us. We feel this is a safe guarding issue. There was a wedding in the hotel which meant we were forced to eat in the Vines for lunch and the staff there were not very welcoming advising us straight away there would be a long wait as they were short staffed. Unfortunately our first visit to Carden Park did not live up to our expectations. It would be nice for a member of Management to contact us to address these issues.

It really was night and day with the spa and hotel... the spa couldn’t have been more amazing, from the customer service we received, to the treatments and facilities. Lunch was ok, food very salty but staff very attentive and polite. However, unfortunately we can’t say the same for the hotel. The check in staff were polite and the room was spacious and clean (beds not comfortable) but it all could do with a little uplift compared to the spa. The real pain point for us was the restaurant (Redmonds) in which we had dinner and breakfast the following day. The service was the worst I’ve had in a long time... we ordered a £65 bottle of wine and the waiter didn’t know how to open the cork so we had to do it ourselves. The tables and glasses/cutlery could also do with an uplift for such an expensive restaurant. Duck wellington was ok and antipasti board good, but the steak had been doused in salt. We were reluctant to say anything but after both trying it and deeming it inedible (it really was THAT bad), we asked for it to be replaced really politely and were met with sullen and rude staff that weren’t apologetic, took 15 mins for a new one (a new medium rare steak shouldn’t take 15 mins) and then slammed it back onto the table. Breakfast was even worse, we spent 15 mins trying to catch someone’s eye to order breakfast and when we asked for some juice the rude attitude and looks we received from the waitress was horrendous and juice slammed on the table... we are not ones to complain but the service was really THAT bad that we felt compelled to warn others. If you can go for a spa day but skip the hotel, that would be our recommendation!

The overall stay was really nice and well organised. Some areas were a little busy and did not manage to attend such as the swimming pool unless you got up early before breakfast to do so. The entertainment is well worth a visit as was £2 for half a day and could play as much pool, table tennis or air hockey as you wanted and the golf driving range was really good and well priced. I would love to return and stay for 2 nights as I think 1 isn’t enough to relax and make the most of all the facilities. The rooms are really spacious but cleaning could be improved as a dirty cotton bud was left in our bathroom but did not let it affect our stay
