What a three day stay, at The Auldgirth Inn!! Everybody made us feel so welcome, from Rab, the owner to Louise & Pippa, front of house and Craig Drysdale, the Chef, they couldn’t do enough for us! Have to give a special mention to Craig, his food is just phenomenal and we had the pleasure of trying it for three nights! If you don’t have an overnight stay, at least go and try this talented Chef’s food, you won’t be disappointed!!

Asked if we could have a drink and were turned away. Inconsistencies in their reasons for not serving us. First time they answer the phone and bluntly say they're closed, then another time we visit they say its residents only then they say its because of a shooting event. Don't bother there's plenty of other nice places in the area that will happily slot you in ie the stream boat in Carsethorn.

Our second visit to the restaurant was not a disappointment. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, attentive without being in your face. And as for the food - delicious doesn't even start to sum it up. Every mouthful danced in your mouth, with no one flavour dominating, but all ingredients working together. Can't wait to go back.

Weren’t quite sure what to expect on arrival. Nice but small room, low ceiling, separate bathroom - unexpected but all to ourselves. Inn in middle of nowhere. But what an unexpected treat this turned out to be. Being a pair of foodies, we were not disappointed. Delicious offerings every night, including for the vegetarian. That marmite foccacia… *sigh*. Beetroot spelt risotto - to die for. Freshest meat around on offer. Fab breakfast.. best bowl of porridge ever. Lovely staff. And super forest walk just through the trees, with awesome Solway Coast walks short drive away. Would I recommend you stay & sleep & eat here? Yes. Wholeheartedly, yes.
