This was meant to be a birthday treat for me, not too far from home, but somewhere that we thought looked really nice. What a disappointment though. The Friars Carse is a beautiful old building set in lovely grounds and you get an immediate sense of grandeur stepping inside to the lovely lounge area with its leather couches (rather worn...

We had a nice big room overlooking the river. It was warm and very comfortable with a lovely big bed, the only drawback being we couldn't get a signal but that wasn't the end of the world. We could get one downstairs, so maybe some of the rooms had better reception. The food was nice and the staff were very...

We stayed here for one night as a gift from our children. Initial impression was a magnificent building in beautiful surroundings. On checking in the downstairs lounge area cum hallway appeared very grand and inviting. However as we went up the stairs everything changed. Hotel is in need of a major refurb. The corridors and doorways were grim and the...

Where do I start, food: Excellent, outlook beautiful, room I was allocated Spruce, it was tatty to say the least, dingy, drab, walls marked, window looks on to a wall you needed to strain over to see past this then all I could see was the marquee which is erected as a permanent fixture. The bed people is a joke...

We stayed here for 2 nights, 1 a wowcher, and really enjoyed it. Great welcome, I had forgotten to take the Wowcher with us but as I could get it emailed to me they were able to accept it without any problems. We ate in the restaurant the first night and enjoyed it, although the food was not very hot....

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds, and even on a wet February weekend, they were stunning. We loved the originality of the lounge, the huge log fire was so welcoming, the chesterfield suites comfortable. Lovely relaxing place to sit and have afternoon tea. Our room overlooked the river, a lovely view to wake up to. Sure, the room was...

Loved this hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly. Location fabulous and food amazing. Coped really well with dairy, non wheat diet. Lovely walks along the river from the hotel. Fishing available on the river. Room was well decorated and bed very comfortable. Loved having bath and shower. Will definitely go again.
