So much nicer inside than the exterior would lead you to believe. We had the gluten free Sharing Board which was excellent value for money. We asked whether the fries are gluten free and if cooked separately and we were told they are cooked in a separate fryer and so safe for coeliacs which is really import to us. Service was friendly but not overbearing.

We decided to stay here on a whim via a deal we spotted last minute. We stayed Easter Monday night and booked room 4, ‘Holy Island’. On entering the venue we were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our room within a few minutes. The room was beautiful and immaculately clean. A big roll top bath in the corner and a large shower in the en-suite was such a treat. Couldn’t fault the room at all apart from one tiny issue with the shower head which was an easy fix and we reported this on our checkout. We dined in the restaurant and have been to Tomahawk on Newcastle Quayside a number of times, this didn’t fall to impress and in fact, dare I say it but it was even better. We went for the sharing board which my partner was reluctant to have as he didn’t think it could be better than the last one we had - well, he was wrong and couldn’t even finish his share. Service was a little slow but it was clear they weren’t expecting it to be so busy and were a tad short staffed. This didn’t bother us as we were staying upstairs. A little cock-up with the drinks but again, easily rectified. Will definitely be looking to go back and explore the menu further. Would 100% rebook room 4 again.

Visited here a few times now and thoroughly recommend. Food is great, staff are attentive, polite and on the ball, and the restaurant overall is spot on. We’ve had Sunday lunches and various steaks and the food has skyways been amazing. We’ll be back and are also going to try the Tomohawk in newcastle centre. Congratulations to all the team.

We were really looking forward to visiting yesterday 7th January for my Birthday. The serving staff were wonderful so 5 stars for them, the problem was my steak. Not the first time we have visited a Tomahawk restaurant and had similar problem. I asked for my Porterhouse to be medium which considering it is a steakhouse should not be difficult you would think, but no yet again it was cooked wrong, it was very rare as the waitress also agreed with. My meal was taken back to the kitchen to be cooked a bit more so it ended up my husband eating his meal while I waited and then by the time mine came back he had finished his so I ended up eating mine on my own. The side that is advertised as tomato, onion, cucumber and lettuce was in fact just a bowl of leaves, peppers and dressing, I did not have any tomato or cucumber - should be advertised as mixed leaves maybe instead. I doubt we will be back with the issues we experienced

We booked last minute, for a pre-christmas getaway. When we arrived we had a warm welcome from the staff, taken to our room which was spotless, it had a lovely roll topped bath, and very comfortable bed. We were booked in for dinner, service was excellent, we chose the wagu fillet and the ordinary steak fillet, which just melted in your mouth. Breakfast was just as good a full english for me and eggs benedict with smoked salmon for my husband, Will definately be back as everything was just perfect.

My wife and I stayed for two nights on our way up to Scotland. The room was great value for money with a very comfy room and a roll top bath to boot. Good location for exploring the area just off of the A1 and not far from the coast. Staff all very friendly and couldn't help us enough. Would happily have paid more. Spoilt for choice for breakfast which was somehow included in the room price as well?! Even if it hadn't been at only £6-£8 a portion (and sizable ones at that) you couknt complain - I'm jealous of any locals with that deliciousness nearby. It was probably the best breakfast I've ever had. I am fortunate that my wife has a small appetite, so can usually look forward to trying a bite of hers as well. Not this time- her french toast with bacon and maple syrup was gone in a blink. If that already sounds good try this: a HUGE potato rosti with pulled beef and cheese. Yes that's right pulled beef for breakfast. Yes, you are missing out. And no, I don't know where it's been in my life either. And if I thought I'd found breakfast perfection day two breakfast of confit duck eggs benedict certainly kept me thinking. I had been looking forward to trying the steak for months and it did not disappoint. We shared a platter between us, diving straight in for the fillet, but it was the rib eye that proved to be the star of the evening- absolutely lush - and an honourable mention has to go to the sriracha broccoli side (they kindly swapped one of the included sides for a sauce). A good wine selection as well with us opting for an Argentinian red. Only thought would be by the time we got to our forth and steak it was starting to go cold - I confess not sure what can be done about this and perhaps more a reflection of our eating speed than anything else. We arrived on a Friday and there was not a spare table, so if you are staying make sure to book ahead, or you will miss out and regret it. Not a stay we will forget. We will be back!

Stayed for two nights with my wife. The room was excellent well maintained and decorated. It was spotlessly clean. The staff were attentive, and couldn’t do enough for us. We both slept really well and any noise made in the bar finished early so didn’t disturb us. We had our son join us for breakfast one day and this was no issue. The breakfast (included in room price) was excellent food and generous portions. The cleaner asked if we had any special requests or requirements for our room and met them without question. One of the nicest places we have stayed in as a couple at this price range. Thoroughly recommended.
