Needed a hotel for one night close to a business meeting and this hotel is ideal for the nearby industrial ports etc.Th place is dated and the decor tired as others have stated, but it is clean, warm there is the said river view. Stayed in the block that is seperate from the main building which has no WIFI,so if you need...

This "Hotel" is also a Pub, which was the purpose of our visit, It has an Upstairs Bar & Resturant, but the River Level Bar is Closed, a Building Site, unused ! The bar is Tired and needs decorating, at the moment they seem to think that thick rope, Mooring Rope, can be used to cover bad light wiring, the...

Where do I start. I booked a weekend up in Essex with my partner and found this hotel, well let me tell you.. nothing like the pictures AT ALL. When we pulled up, looks like an old redundant pub that clearly needs some attention. Bar is tatty and old, staff rude. My partner went up to use the toilet and...

I stayed here on business late 2014 and it was a reasonable pub/Inn. I had a huge room to the rear of the building which had creaky floor boards (a pet hate of mine but then it adds character to the place I guess). One window in the bedroom did not close properly and I recall it rained in one...

I'm visiting a conference in Essex where the organisers have shown the typical lack of imagination that politically cautious conference organisers show. They have only been able to refer delegates to stay at the local corporate hotels and in doing so have omitted to mention the Royal Hotel in Purfleet which presents itself as a delightful surprise in this part...

I've just checked in to this cosy little gaf so all I can write so far is that I was greeted with a lovely smile by a very helpful receptionist named Donna. The room is warm, clean and tidy with all that any other hotel room would offer. Price was reasonable. I've paid nearly £100 elsewhere for a place similar...

Stayed here on a business journey. By the way I grew up in a pebble dash council house. One of the worse places I've stayed will never stay here again and the company that books our hotels will not put anyone in here again. Staff were nice ,food was good and bedding was clean that's all the good points for...

I have been going to The Royal for more years than I care to remember. Even after changing hands a few times, I have not had a bad meal there. The Sunday carvery is excellent value for money, always plenty of meat and loads of potatoes and vegetables. Since the last owners took over, the decor has improved, the staff...
