What makes a B&B excellent is the direct and personal involvement of the owners. The careful attention to detail from Graeme and Eilean made our stay a perfect example of how to treat your guests, from the dog bowl/bed/treats/toy and human goodies that awaited us to the spotlessly clean room and bathroom and amazingly comfortable bed. The facilities in the spacious room were everything we needed. Furthermore, the breakfast was delicious, and the menu offered plenty of choices to suit different tastes. We will visit again and highly recommend staying at The Hawthorns.

We had a lovely stay at the Hawthorns as part of our 9-day road trip along the NC500. We stayed in different B&Bs nearly every night, and Graeme and Eilean were the warmest and kindest hosts we had the chance to encounter. The room (Willow) was spacious and well-appointed, with a useful fridge and television. The bed was large and comfortable, and the slippers provided was a nice touch! We also had access to a large collection of DVDs to choose from, which we enjoyed. The bathroom was a bit small but completely functional, with a very large window (not see-through) - I had the sunniest shower of my life! Breakfast was very nice too, with clearly good quality products - I had some granola from a good brand that I usually see in whole foods shops in London. The house itself does not have the most modern decor, but we felt so welcome and comfortable that it didn’t matter to us at all. We would gladly stay again! Thank you Graeme and Eilean!

Thank you for taking time to comment, it is good to know you had a good stay and a sunny shower ( there is a blind for a shaded option too : ) We do try to slowly replace and refurbish rooms , although the pandemic has slowed us a bit! Hopefully we will see you again one day? Thanks Graeme & Eilean

This was a warm and welcoming place to stay whilst travelling on the NC500. Rooms are a good size and give you everything you need for a few days stop or longer. Breakfast is provided in a separate dining room where the food is great and the owners are friendly and happy to chat and offer advice on places to eat or visit. The accommodation is accessed directly off the road but is orientated so that you get great views across the adjoining fields and woods - in our case it was the field of sheep! Would recommend this as a place to stop in this part of the Highlands with easy access to most places along this part of the north coast.

Made very welcome by the owners Graham and Eileen. The" Beech Room " we stayed in was lovely and spacious, big bathroom with walk in shower, television, tea and coffee makers, good firm comfortable bed and an excellent view as well. As for the breakfast, incredible, bacon, lorne sausage, link sausage, haggis, black pudding, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans etc, as much toast as you require and real 4 star coffee. Also available an excellent continental breakfast selection if you like something lighter in the morning. They are a lovely couple who know all the good places to go so make good use of their local knowledge. They also welcome dogs and as a nice touch have a dog bowl with a hawthorns name tag, some treats and very importantly... a ball for your dog waiting for you in your room when you arrive. This truly was a lovely place to stay and will certainly be used the next time we are in the area. Thank you very much for a lovely stay. Sandy Karen and Maya the wonder dog.
