We travelled as a couple and stayed at Carpe diem for 3 nights beginning of October. We wanted a hotel in which we can relax and have some privacy and Carpe Diem was exactly that. We arrived at the port on a very hot day and the hotel driver was there waiting for us; he was very kind and he had left the air-conditioning on, which was perfect. We arrived at Carpe diem and the owners Sotiris and Sofia greeted us warmly. They offered us a welcome drink and some finger food by the pool overlooking the island and sea. Our suite was very spacious and cozy. When we entered the room a vinyl record player welcomed us with Bossa Nova melodies. It was so romantic. The room was simply decorated with a luxury touch at every small detail. It really made us feel like home. The bathroom was spacious and it had both shower cabin and a big bathtub. Our massive balcony had its own private swimming pool from which we had the best island and sea view. Later that day we tried the Carpe diem restaurant by the main pool. We were told the menu is made by a popular Greek Chef so we had to try it. It felt like having a private exclusive dinner, with the perfect service, the perfect food and the perfect view. Can you have them all? Yes! Try the Shrimp Orzo and the Mosignori Assyrtico wine, highly recommended. Over the next days of our stay we walked around the island and we visited Imerovigli and Oia areas which were very pretty, but also crowded with people. After spending a few hours there we basically run back to Carpe diem, same way you run back home after a tiring day. It is the only place we felt really at peace. We spend time at our room and balcony, at the main pool area and we both enjoyed an amazing massage by the spa therapist. Most of all I think it is people that make an experience extraordinary – it was Sotiris and Sofia that were always there with a warm smile and a genuine interest on how to make our stay memorable – and they made it. We will be returning to Carpe Diem next summer!…
We had a wonderful stay at Carpe Diem. The location, a short walk from Pyrgos, was perfect. We went back and forth between whether to stay here or in Oia and we were so happy we didn't choose Oia after going there for dinner one night and seeing how crowded it was. Similarly, when we visited Fira, it was difficult to navigate the throngs of people coming off the cruise ships. In contrast, Carpe Diem was a tranquil respite and Pyrgos very charming with a few great restaurants. Our favorite was Selene, where we took a short cooking class before dinner in the gastro-pub. Our room at Carpe Diem was beautiful and very comfortable. Our deck had a spectacular view of the island. We were there in late September, so it was a bit chilly and windy, so we didn't use our private plunge pool. The owners and staff were very attentive to our every need. Sophia booked massages for my husband and I, gave us restaurant and activity suggestions, arranged taxis and her brother and co-owner checked in regularly to see how we were doing. The maids regularly left treats for us. I would highly recommend Carpe Diem and Pyrgos. While the town is in the interior of the island, it is a good home base. We did a wine tour and a catamaran cruise and were picked up at the hotel for both as we didn't rent a car.…
Carpe Diem is located in a peaceful location away from the very touristy Oia and Fira - great to visit but maybe not to stay if you want peace and quiet. Pyrgos is full of good restaurants and is only an easy 10 minute walk away. There is an extremely steep hill to climb to leave the hotel and reach the road to the village. We were fine, but anyone with walking difficulties or health issues would have struggled. The staff is amazing - helpful and attentive to every need. We stayed in the Alba suite which is simply but well-appointed and was kept spotlessly clean by the lovely Elena. The private patio with the pool had chairs, table and loungers and was fairly private. Breakfast was excellent; all freshly prepared. We did not eat in the restaurant as we prefer to try out the local restaurants. Our stay was fantastic. I would highly recommend it for an exclusive, comfortable and relaxing holiday.…
Carpe Diem is a wonderful alternative to the otherwise touristy and crowded Santorini. With both sunrise and sunset views, it was the perfect spot for our honeymoon to relax and have some privacy. Every staff member was incredible and the food was delicious. Sofia was key in helping us plan the perfect trip, and she booked us a cooking lesson at a nearby restaurant, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We highly recommend this resort and would definitely stay again.
Carpe Diem is the perfect retreat for someone or a couple that wants exclusivity. Only guests are allowed inside the hotel gates and there are only 10 suites total (so very exclusive). The hotel is quiet and secluded from the hustle and bustle of island which makes it a perfect getaway. The staff are very kind and try their best to accommodate all of your needs.
