We had a beach front bungalow with a lovely view, room was large enough with a modest terrace facing the sea. Unfortunately the next bungalow inland had a terrace directly facing our lodging, so whenever the occupants and their friends gathered there we had to put up with their enthussiastic early breakfast chatter or their alcohol inflamed aperitif talk.
it was very windy during our visit, so no chance of snorkeling, without which there was very little to do.
The restaurant was a disaster, with waits of up to an hour for food in a crowded room closed in by plastic curtains to keep the wind out.

Stayed here for 3 days over the 2023 new year period
Again like other hotels it’s a bit dated and needs a bit of work. The rooms are great and modern. Staff and service is fantastic, would do week to introduce a menu instead of the usual buffet meals daily
The snorkelling off the beach was fantastic literally 20 meters off the beach, very safe for children my kids loved it. The are supermarkets in Hienghene if you want some supplies like fresh pastries and baguette. This coastline around the area is amazing take a drive north up the coast you won’t be disappointed

Great experience. You’re very remote in this part of New Caledonia don’t expect 5 star service - especially at this price.
Considering the limits of the location the hotel mostly delivers. The rooms with private pools are a highlight. When we stayed it rained heavily for 2 days straight. The bungalow stood up well and they are in great shape for their age.
The pool area was being renovated when we were here but it should look great in future.
The only real letdown is the restaurant. The buffet is great IF you like buffets, otherwise there aren’t any other options at the hotel or nearby. At 4500 XPF each it is an expensive experience. For the location the buffet is varied and well presented. Wine here is decently priced and starts around 3000 XPF per bottle. Beer is expensive at 800 XPF for a small glass.
Overall - this place is recommended but don’t expect to be blown away by the service and culinary experience in this part of the world. Come for the remoteness and beauty. The rooms are a definite highlight. Get the ones with the private pool if you can.

I did not actually stay here.

In fact, I just had to cancel my booking as I am unable to fly to New Caledonia because I require hospital treatment.

I just wanted to mention:

1. The hotel was always very prompt in responding to my questions about when rooms were available, etc.

2. When I informed them about the reasons I had to cancel they didd't charge my credit card the deposit and said they would be no charge. They didn't ask me for medical certificate--They just trusted me. One less thing for a sick person to worry about.

Thanks so much to the Hotel Koulnoue Village. This is classy.

This was a very difficult experience for us. We had to leave early, which upset our schedule. We sought out the area for its high black limestone cliffs which march into the ocean and create a spectacular coastline, and because it is off the beaten track. We found the resort was not as described. Some facilities are very run down- for example, the tennis court surface is broken and weed infested and the net is in pieces on the ground. There was no horse riding. But worst of all, not only did they have no water sports equipment, they told us we would be arrested if we put a foot in the water! They seemed to feel the shark swim ban was still in effect, even though the New Caledonian government had announced it was lifted across the whole country months before. Luckily we found out the campsite up the road was hiring kayaks - and everyone was swimming there. So we had to drive up the road and pay to hire something that was supposed to be part of the village. The actual people working at the resort were lovely. Management didn’t believe our problems, and would not refund our money. A really unpleasant experience in a heavenly location.

Hienghène was a highlight of our recent stay in New Caledonia. It’s on the isolated East Coast which is stunning for its scenery. Take the time to head up the coast to the waterfalls and walking. The resort is great for its location. We stayed in a comfortable well equipped bungalow metres from the beach. Everything a tropical getaway is supposed to be. The reception was helpful. Sunset and sunrise were stunning and breakfast on the patio facing the ocean will live long in our memories. The evening buffet was average for the price with not a lot of really good choice, but still a good stay with no real other options at this time of year. We’ll back for the area and location.

Lovely location on the beach. Had a beachfront with it's own little pool. Bungalow was nice. They are looking a little bit tired in places so bear that in mind . Wifi didn't initially work but after a reboot it went and so did tv. Had the buffet dinner which was nice albeit a bit pricey but food was good. There was a problem the morning we checked out where the water just stopped working but not sure if it was planned or not! Work being done slowly around the place but would be good if the owners invested a little to attract people back post covid.

Great experience very quiet and peaceful nights sleep. The hotel rooms are well maintained. The restaurant is surprisingly good and serving sizes are generous, we were left full and went away extremely happy :) Thanks guys, we will be sure to come back.

This resort was a nice surprise. We weren’t expecting such a beautiful place out on the east coast. It’s really a stunning area with all the craggy limestone cliffs everywhere. Our bungalow was very nice, just meters from the beach with great views out the glass doors. The room was very modern, probably recently renovated, I’d say. It was very comfortable, complete with AC, TV, good Wifi, and a small fridge. The place was very quiet so we had a really good sleep. There is a lot of upgrading and renovating going on around the resort, so a little messy and disorganized in places. We opted to eat the buffet dinner at the restaurant and had an excellent feed, albeit a bit pricey. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend it to other travellers.

This was a nice little resort which seemed to be mainly run by locals. They mucked up our reservation and I had to convince them that we actually had bokking for a beachfront bungalow with private pool by showing a hard copy of the reservation.
Some of the best food we had in New Caledonia. A nice beach. Spectacular coastline. Stay a couple of days

Hi, I suggest you contact the Koulnoue directly. I am a reviewer and I don't work for the hotel. They do have buffet breakfasts, lunch and diner buffets everyday. Best regards

Le petit déjeuner n'est pas compris mais comme ailleurs si vous payez vous aurez droit à un petit déjeuner sous forme de buffet. Néanmoins attendez vous à payer assez cher une prestation moyenne.
