Detailed Reviews
We really enjoyed our stay here at this lodge. We upgraded from the simple rooms to a bungalow as we needed a bit more space and it was a good move. Had a spacious area, views and breezes amongst the trees. Staff were very friendly and tolerated my less than perfect French. Nighttime meals were always good. Didn’t have the breakfasts or lunches as we were off doing activities in the area.
I can thoroughly recommend the lodge, so ignore any negative reviews.

We stayed in one of the bungalows uphill. The view from the terrace was very nice, at night ( with some insect repellent) we could see many fruitbats flying around and of course the stars...
There is a fridge, nothing else. The bungalow could use some new paint inside and outside, the door was rotten and nearly fell off... The restaurant were we had made a reservation was no good at all. A set menu ,no problem with that, given the remoteness of the place, but the quality of the starter as well as the main course ( deepfreezed fish) was beneath every acceptable level. Next day we had lunch in the small snack "Terminus" in the vllage, the only other option, and it was worse... Better buy some canned food and a "baguette" and make it a pick nick.

Individual wooden chalets nestling in the trees with a fabulous view over the Hienghène river - sounds great? Unfortunately the accommodation does not match the surroundings as the chalets here are, at best, basic.
A fridge, yes, but apart from that not even a kettle. Bring your own glasses to enjoy an aperitif on the balcony as not even tooth-brush glasses or mugs are provided. Naked light bulbs in the room, no light outside and a climb to get to the front door - unsuitable for anyone less than able-bodied, especially when bringing in the suitcases!
The bathroom area (loo, shower cabin and wash-basin) is just a partitioned off area in the room. The partitions don’t even reaching the ceiling and all sounds are amplified - you really need to be the best of friends! Our shower door wouldn't close properly and the flexible hose was hanging on by the inner plastic tube only.
4 single beds with 2 put together to form a “double” were all in the same open-plan area. Don't look for privacy here either! And we found what looked suspiciously like animal droppings on the bed covers; the beds were otherwise clean & reasonably comfy.
And lastly, wifi is advertised but there was no network coverage in our bungalow: you have to go to the bar/restaurant/reception area for that.
Breakfast was good with delicious home-made jams, but we had to ask for things and the waitress didn't seem to know what she was doing. She couldn't even tell us what the jams were!
The: fabulous surroundings and a few exotic flower heads scattered decoratively around inside the bungalow do not compensate for the basic lack of creature comforts.

Stopped here for lunch, and it was overpriced and very bad. Stale, dry, badly reheated food, some of it not even fully warmed. The worst lunch we've had in a long time. My wife and I both felt a little sick afterwards. The price would have been OK if the food was good, but for that dreadful quality it was ridiculously overpriced. On the positive side, it was a beautiful and peaceful space to sit in. We didn't stay here so can't comment on the accommodation.

Bonne continuation. Farah T. Manager

Pulled up very late, in heavy tropical rain, without a reservation and the staff went out of their way to get us a room. Fantastically rustic, the bungalows have a surprisingly above average interior. Try to stay higher up so your room has a terrace with a view. Recommend as the best hotel in the area. Not ideal for families.

My husband and I have just had a beautiful stay at Ka Waboana Lodge. Stayed in superior bungalow which has beautiful vistas of the river and natural surrounds. Bungalow comes with queen + single (comfortable and clean), balcony with lounges (glorious in the afternoon), fan, louvered windows, bathroom with generous shower, tv and desk, fridge/kettle coffee making facilities. Room is also equipped with insect repellant! Staff are lovely and helpful, proprietress is a delight. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Free wifi is strong enough for most streaming.

We stayed in a honeymoon bungalow. They all have views of the river and are nestled in the hillside. The room was spacious with a large balcony on two sides, lounges, a desk, fridge and coffee/tea making facilities. The private bathroom was new and well laid out. I loved this place and would return in a heartbeat. See my separate review of the restaurant.

Nested among the trees, just above the Hienghene river and the marina, the lodge offers comfy and cosy bungalows, at reasonable price.
The restaurant there is excellent, proposing yummy dishes of local products, and homemade pastries for dessert.
Breakfast on the terrace, enjoying the sunrise upon the river while savoring beautiful cakes and locally made fruit jam.
Free wifi everywhere.
Friendly and cool staff.
