Be aware that this hotel is a long drive from Nouméa or La Tontouta airport - approx 4. Hours. The beach side location is lovely, as are the beach front bungalows. Food options are limited to what is available onsite, which is expensive, although there are one or two basic snack type places if you have a car. The WiFi is terrible pretty much everywhere given the remote location. For a relaxing beach side holiday this is a good spot if you don’t mind the limited food choices.

Hi Megan, That's correct, it takes about four hours - drinving distance - to reach Le Tiéti. But after that you should have a nice stay, at least like yours. Thank you for this lovely feedback. Mind yourself.

Hôtel Tieti is a good choice for families and offers an excellent mid range hotel experience. The beach is absolutely beautiful and the pool and small playground were a hit with the kids. The breakfast buffet has a good selection and the staff are friendly although speak little English. We stayed once in a single room which was pretty basic but clean - not luxurious - and once in a beach bungalow which we loved. Both times we had pizza at the Koyaboa pizza bar, which was delicious and they let you BYO wine. The buffet at Tieti was overpriced but this is not unusual for New Caledonia where the cost of food is very high.

Hi Caledokiwi, I recognize that Caledonia is overpriced. I hope one day they will understand. Thank you for your nice review, and I do agree with you, Tieti as a midrange hotel, is quite good. At least I fight for that. I always say : it is better to be a good 3 stars than a bad 4 stars. This point clear, I know where is my place :-) Regards

Upon arrival, I noticed that the establishment had greatly improved since our last stay.
All the exterior furniture has been changed and is of good quality.
The maintenance of the bungalows is carried out much more seriously than in the past.
The management has improved the general appearance of the establishment and the staff seems motivated to provide a service commensurate with the beauty of the site and the tropical gardens. Congratulations to all.
A double sink in the huge bathroom would be welcome.
I will return there soon with my family with pleasure now that the family bungalows have been created.

An illustration of why the tourism in New Caledonia is limited: the location is great but the hotel is far from any international standard. You will wait to be served at every outlet. The kitchen is closed in the afternoon, so not possible to eat something after your dive. The staff isn’t outgoing to say the least. The hotel needs a refurbishment asap and mosquito nets need to be installed. We encountered many mosquitos in our room as the broken shades do not fully close.

At first all was OK, we checked in at about 3pm and the room was as expected. Later that night around 7-8pm we went to have showers and there was NO hot water at all. I called reception with my broken French and the girl immediately seemed to know what I was on about, almost like they knew this was a problem before… they offered to move us to another room which was beside the road, we had NO choice but to accept this room, and yes it was extremely noisy! I looked online and noticed there were still family and double rooms available for the same night, no clue why they didn’t provide one of these rooms to us given the hot water was their problem not ours. Overall a really disappointing experience I thought Tieti would be a better experience but it wasn’t. Management you need to lift your game and do something better if your customers experience issues in your hotel!

Hi Brettr, Yes we were aware of these troubles with hot water. The reason is simple : due to the storm and thunder many thermostats were broken at the same moment in different bungalows. In fact we had an high voltage and the installation did not support it. Ans yes one more we had no choice as well, it is not something that you can programm to reparer more than 10 boilers the same day or night. We provided you the best solution at the moment ... and the manager I am knows really how to lift the game be sure, I don't really need advice for that becasue I have Tieti under my skin. Next time do not hesitate to contact me directly and I have a special offer for you. Mind yourself.

Thank you Yves for looking after us. A request to mive our beach front bungalow was appreciated. Let down was definitely food for us. Buffet breakfast was adequate. Dinner for me was inedible. We did raise this but the response from the duty waitress was quite cold. We did pay regardless.Water in our taps turned brown we think from heavy rain? The toliet did not flush properly so we filled the cistern ourselves. I think they were aware as an outsde panel had been opened?so maybe it can de fixed?
This is tge best hotel option if you want to explore the upper North East Coast. It has so much done well lots to do to really make it 100. Which we think will happen. The sea facing bungalows are worth the extra. I swam briefly as the waves were quite
dumpy. Pool area and swings on the seafront are in great condition. Worth booking for an experience away from Noumea and to find out about locals and a very different vibe.

Dear Tracy, It is our duty to satisfy all request if we can do it. And regarding yours, I did it without discussion, it was normal. During heavy rain, yes the water coming from the river turns brown, due to sand brought. But it is not dangerous for the health, even if I rather people to do not drink it. For the toilet, I will have a look and if you might change an item, we will proceed to it. Thank you for your review well-balanced, and we wish you a Happy New Year

Arrived at 1.30pm and before welcoming us or asking our names the receptionist almost without looking up says your room will not be ready until 3pm. This one could understand as when we booked the check in time was mentioned as 3pm. I asked if we could do the paper work so we could go straight to the room when it was ready and she said no. Then asked if she could please call us if the room was ready earlier, alas heard nothing and at 3.10pm I then got in line at the counter to fill out the paperwork, poor show for a resort hotel.

We loved Hotel Tieti. We spent 3 nights here in a beachfront bungalow, enjoying the relaxed, friendly vibe of a very pretty part of New Caledonia that is far from crowds. It isn't 5 star, but rather comfortable, tastefully furnished and professionally run by a staff of very warm and helpful people. Highlight of our time in NC. It's a four hour drive from Nouméa over mainly well made and all sealed roads. Pretty twisty as you cross the range that divides the west and east coasts but not particularly challenging apart from a lot of "country driving" by locals in SUVs who seem obsessed with overtaking anywhere and everywhere.

Bungalows are awesome.
Beach near by is wild and beautiful.
Breakfast is great as well as the swimming pool. The food at dinner was very tasty and felt local. It just took us 1h to get our cocktails at the table...we waited quite a while to get through dinner

The bungalow with a sea view was very large and very tastefully decorated. We come from a big city in Western Europe and live in a small apartment, so the spaciousness of the room and especially the bathroom was captivating for us. We have rarely had so much storage space in a unique setting. In my opinion, the accommodations in New Caledonia outside of Nouméa hardly need any reviews because they are so rare.
The staff were cheerful and friendly. Breakfast offered a wide selection except for cheese. The pool area was well maintained, as was everything else. A very nice place.

Hi John,
Not yet. The Wi-Fi his given by the OPT (state) and it is still not the best service we can provide. Next year, I was told that we might have the fiber installed. Wait and see.

Hi,
Dear Andrew,
For our family bungalows the main thing is that accommodation are stuck, but they have two separated entrance. And it is two twin bed in one room and a king-size bed into the other one.

I am sorry but our trip was in October 2017. I cannot to answer at this question !!
Sorry, I don't know. Here is an email address for the hotel, reservation@tieti.nc; - you may need to send your request in French. Best of luck, Tony
Hotel Tieti Poindimie is on the north-eastern coast, about 300km from Noumea. There are buses from Noumea, but I suggest a hire car. The roads are good and the traffic is pretty light - but on the right hand side of the road, if that is an issue to you. I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have. Tony
