This is an amazing resort. My wife and I stayed here for a walk in late November and had one of the most relaxing holidays ever. The resort is around an hour and a half or so from the main airport in the middle of nowhere so to speak. The closest town is about 15 minutes drive. We hired a car from the airport and got around that way which was very easy. The resort is modern, spacious and great for relaxing. It seemed a little busier Friday to Sunday when locals from Nouméa came to hang out but during the week days it was extremely relaxing and quiet, full of couples or the occasional small family all of which were very respectable and well behaved. There is an amazing pool, a beautiful beach that stretches for miles and at one stage during a walk I looked in both directions and I was the only one on it, absolutely surreal. If you are lucky you will see wildlife in the reef. We spotted a reef shark and a stingray at one stage. The buffet breakfast is amazing, one of the best I have seen in a resort. The restaurant also serves delicious fresh food at night. The fish is always extremely fresh. The rooms are clean and modern. We stayed in a couple's bungalow. At night you can hear the sea and the wildlife if you sit outside. Staff are friendly and accommodating. I advise anyone from English speaking countries to learn some French vocabulary before going, it comes in handy when speaking with staff, although some do speak English. I definitely recommend this resort for a quiet week or two away. We will definitely return.

Hotel's Favourite
Sheraton Deva was our first accommodation on our drive from Noumea along the west coast of New Caledonia. There's a variety of accommodation available - we opted for a traditional double room which is more like a standard hotel room. Once inside, I would rate it as a very good hotel room with everything you need but with nothing special (ie. the view was just towards the golf course). Once again, tea and coffee making facilities are provided but with no milk options (seems to be standard for New Caledonia). The first thing to recognise is that the accommodation is dispersed across a large area. The hotel does provide golf carts (voiturettes) to ferry you between your accommodation and the main building (reception, restaurant, bar, pool) but we found there could be delays if they were busy - for example, on checking out we waited 30 mins and needed to call again before a cart arrived. We just assumed this was due to issues with staffing. However, once we learned the layout it was only a 5-10 minute walk anyway. The buffet breakfast and dinners were good. Dinner seemed to have a few different themes, including Asian-inspired, a roast, soups and more traditional fare. As always, the question of value-for-money comes up - I'm not a big eater, so realistically I probably never eat as much as the price suggests. On the second evening, we ate from the bar menu at the bar - this is a more relaxed area to hang out with a drink and something simpler to eat. There was even live music on both nights. Note that Bourail is a 20 minute drive away so you're pretty much restricted to the hotel dining options unless you feel like driving. However, there is a Leader Price supermarket in town where you can buy supplies for lunches and snacks. Sadly the weather was against us so we couldn't swim in the sea or the pool. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean.

This place is absolutely beautiful! We had an excellent stay, wish we could’ve stayed longer. It’s quite a sprawling resort, located right on the beach and adjacent to a golf course. We had a room overlooking the golf course with great views from our balcony. The room was large, airy, and well appointed – extremely clean & comfortable. We had a decent Wifi connection but it did seem to fade in and out from time to time. We were happy to see a refrigerator in the room – able to cool down our water and other drinks. We had a couple of great pizzas for dinner one night at the bar and very much enjoyed the comprehensive and busy breakfast buffet. One of the best aspects of this hotel is its location in the Domaine de Deva with loads of mountain biking trails and walking/hiking trails right at the hotel’s doorstep. There is a good mountain bike rental place just across from the hotel entrance which will allow you to fully explore everything the domain has to offer. We went for a couple of bike rides – amazing and highly recommended. There are some nice beach and forest trails immediately adjacent to the hotel. Overall we had an outstanding stay here and would highly recommend it to other travellers.

We really loved our trip to this resort. Travelled as a family with our two kids (10 & 14) Highlights were lovely buffet breakfast, beautiful swimming pool, clean and spacious rooms and eats check-in and out. Wifi was fine for us- I think there must have been an upgrade since previous negative reviews?? Tips: 1)definitely hire a car and drive yourself from Noumea - it’s almost a two hour drive but it really pays off to have a car at your disposal during your stay. As with most places in New Caledonia, it’s expensive to eat out (and in the hotel Itself) so we stocked up and bought food from the supermarket (Leaderprice) in Bourail to avoid the extra costs. 2) Brush up on your French! Most staff only speak minimal English so be prepared to dust off your skills 3) Go on glass bottom boat tour and see the sea turtles. They were incredible 4) Come prepared to relax. If it’s a high octane, action packed place you’re after, this isn’t it. It’s 100% relaxation. Finally, we thought the staff were lovely and helpful- they are a credit to the resort.

Had an awesome stay in garden Bungalow. Room was spacious and set out beautifully. Loved being aw to sit out in the deck and watch and hear the wildlife. Very peaceful and not overlooked. Beautiful bathroom and shower. Bed was super large and comfortable. Main swimming pool is lovely to swim in. Beach is nice. Didn't swim in sea as weather was a bit cloudy but would be lovely on a fine day. Had an excellent meal on the restaurant. Service was excellent. Shout out to Nils for thw great service. All the staff at the resort were welcoming and friendly.

The bungalows are so spacious. Large day bed on the deck. Deep bath tub. Bed very comfortable. Bungalow 2 is closer to reception. Very quite. Turkeys hang around bungalows near the beach and quite noisy in the early morning. Food at the restaurant on the beach front is amazing. Buffet breakfast has a huge selection. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Most staff only speak French. They don't have milk in the rooms for tea and coffee. Shops are 20 Min drive from resort. Hire a car, taxis very expensive. The beach has sea grass and is very shallow. Lots of turtles when you paddle board out where it's deeper.

Sheraton Deva is located about 2 hours from the airport, so you’ll either need to book a shuttle lift or a car (which we did, a good idea as we could go to neighbouring beaches). We booked our stay via Luxury Escapes as a package with breakfast daily and some resort credit. The Sheraton is resort living, where you’re staying either in a bungalow by the beach or in the gardens or in some of their suites (further from the main building). You’re there to relax, for there are limited options to do things other than beach, golf or pool. Reef tours are available via a glass bottom boat, leaving from the hotel beach or nearby Poe Beach. Accessibility wise, there’s golf carts that will take you everywhere, your rooms, the pool, the spa etc, but everything is easily walkable as well. Keep in mind it is busier on the weekend, and harder to get your golf cart and the restaurant was very busy. But we liked that they had live music in the bar on Friday and Saturday nights. The bungalow is spacious, with a large bed, couch, separated bath and shower space, a fridge / kettle and TV (but that’s all in French). Needs to provide milk and basic snacks as there’s nowhere to buy. There’s a little deck and chairs outside to relax. The resort pool is great, really big, heaps of chairs, a spa and some pool toys/noodles. Water is cold. It’s not heated but the weather was lovely when we were there. You can also order food or drinks to your deck chair. Food wise, since the resort is 2.5 hours from Noumea, you basically need to eat in the resort. There is only one restaurant open in the evening, it relatively fancy and pricy (open from 6:30pm). However, they are accommodating with children. There’s plenty of options for them to order and if under 4, the kid eats free. Theres good high chairs too. We also had nice meals there, a tofu stir fry, tasty steak and lamb dishes. For other meals, the bar otherwise has a few tapas options (like wings, squid and spring rolls), as well as pizza. There’s much better options there at lunch with bento boxes and paninis. There’s a grill on the beach that’s open for 2 hours over the lunch period with lovely views of the beach and reef, grilled seafood and meat options. Drink wise, there’s good cocktail and wine/beer list. Coffee can be bought - machine made. A buffet is served for breakfast daily (and Friday and Saturday nights), and the breakfast had plenty of hot options, omelette station, breads, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, pastries, hams and cheeses and a coffee machine. They do need more protection over the food as the sparrows were getting into everything. Service by wait staff was always friendly. For relaxing, you can visit the Deep Nature Spa where you can buy a half day pass for access to use the plunge spa, hamman steam room and sauna. There’s also a little fridge with snacks there for you. The day spa offers services such as facial, waxing, massage and scrubs. Staff here were really kind and helpful. Attached to the spa is a gym with treadmills, bikes and free weights. The one weight machine was broken (needed a technician to fix it). They have a nice golf course which is very scenic and it is in decent condition. The greens could be better, but roll true. To play, it’s a tricky course off the plates, it played pretty long, a few long par 3s close to 200 m, and some 500 + m par 5s, quite thick in the rough, so hit the ball straight. Since it was quiet, it was quick to get around in 2.5 hours playing solo. It cost about $150 to play 18 holes including club hire and cart, Titleist clubs that were quite easy to work the ball. There’s also a small driving range and practice chipping and putting green which was well priced with unlimited balls for $10. Unfortunately the main issue for us was the kids club was closed. We had booked this place basically to use that so to find it was out of action was super annoying. The place otherwise isn’t that great for kids. There’s only one small park (that isn’t enclosed). Our recommendation would be to fence it, add some more equipment and some swings etc. We had one communication issue with housekeeping. One day our room wasn’t cleaned and so I called twice, went to the front desk twice and it still never got cleaned. This meant we had dirty towels, rubbish and plates. I asked the next morning and it still didn’t get cleaned until daily route. Overall, staff were super lovely, but being a French speaking country, communication can be tricky, depending on the staff member. For the most part they were good, but some front desk staff were hard to communicate with. We met the lovely manager who made the most amazing effort to talk to us. We also loved our golf cart driver Jeanne. On two days, we had a babysitter, Emilie from HR - a very sweet girl from France with perfect English. A lovely place to stay if you’re keen for resort living and relaxing. I’d only go with small kids if the kids club was open and they had some more kiddie play spaces.

Restaurant dated and same menu every night, quality of food below average. Breakfast was best meal of the day, but needs a quality coffee. Incredibly quiet with no real excursions, limited entertainment and in middle of no where. Not worth the drive from airport unfortunately. Not a Sheraton resort.

Perhaps its post Covid, perhaps its simply a tired hotel but the place is just not really working ~ the hotel or the area. First the hotel... we booked a garden view room. Not bad at all, clean and spacious but wifi doesn't work (perhaps too far from the lobby), the roads outside are somewhat poorly maintained outside the properties and the minibar is a bare expanse of what could be. The hotel main lobby is understaffed with the reception team doing their best to help with all comers. Shop has no staff and there appears nowhere to get even the basics like some milk for your tea or coffee. There are a few random boards and kayaks that are locked with rust ridden locks with no hire seemly available nor any staff to advise on any water sports. The staff at reception kindly advised that many of the local businesses have not restarted post Covid so whilst we could book a quick glass bottom boat ride, the majority of the local tours etc were unavailable. Honestly after a few very pleasant days in Noumea this feels like a let down and somewhat of a waste of time.

The Sheraton Deva is such a nice hotel; beautifully designed, lovely lovely friendly & helpful staff, plus cuisine to die for. We think we might just live here. I am not usually a fan of " buffet " dining, but the restaurant at the Sheraton has made me eat my words.... superb, sublime, imaginative .... However all of the resorts we were at had awful foam chip lumpy pillows. .. New Caledonia just doesn't do coffee! Throughout we found the resorts offer only "machine" hot drinks". The rooms have those awful pod machines. There were no serious baristas; & we couldnt even find the locally grown coffee; a gap in the market. Thank goodness for the wonderful food & good wine available. The coffee at French Cafe in front of BurgerKing by the end of Citrus Bay, Noumea was OK & the best we found.
