It took me a while to decide on kohantei @ lake toya vs this hotel. I had read numerous complain on kohantei about the tourist group and tired rooms.

I am so so glad i finally chosed this hotel. The lobby area was stunning..and new..everything here was tip top condition...the dressing room after onsen was very clean and provided everything you need including shiseido lotion.

And for the kids...there was santa claus hunting game..omg.their goodie bags reward was nothing i imagine..it was a big bag of food for the kids..there was also heated pool ..playground by the dining area.

The buffet was alright...too much selection..took a while to make a trip each time.

I strongly encourage ppl to try this hotel. By the way theres another hotel 2min drive away which look exact..so becareful. This hotel have a forest in the sign.

Stayed there for only one night and I found the hotel to be both modern and traditional. Nice big comfortable room with a Japanese style. Amenities such as a fridge, coffee and tea as well as a wide assortment of toiletries were provided. The onsen was very nice and big with both indoor and outdoor pools as well as very nice bathing facilities. Breakfast was fantastic with a very large dining area and a large verity of food ranging from asian to western.

The drawbacks are that there is no internet connection at all and the bathroom in the room is very small and there are no shops nearby. There are many vending machines to buy drinks.

5th day into the 9 days package tour amd have used a few hotels and this is the best by far. The buffet dinner has a wide spread of food, spacious and witg a kids play area in the corner. Onsen has 5 indoor pools and 1 outdoor pool, there's 1 communal pool, din try that. Need to wear swim suit. A games area and karaok in the basement. Very enjoyable stay.

Followed tour group and slept for one night. Arrived at 5pm, just nice for Onsen before dinner.
Room is huge with both tatami style and beds to sleep in....nice view when windows are open.
Dinner is buffet style in the hotel. Huge place with lots to eat!
Onsen is very relaxing and loved the outdoor Onsen! Hot in the water but face is cold with the evening breeze!
After dinner, rested for an hour before heading off to next round of Onsen!
Next morning woke up at 4am, as the Onsen is opened at 3:30am!
Had another soak before heading for breakfast at 7am.
Will definitely return to this lovely location again!

Due to closure of dai-ichi meisuitei, we had to stay at dai-ni meisuitei. Last time we stayed at dai-ichi and I think in terms of enjoying "onsen", dai-ichi is better. Horo-horo sanso is too noisy because of dogs carried by people who will stay at Horo-horo. However the beauty of staying any of Dai-ichi, Dai-ni meisuitei or Horo-horo sanso, you can utilize shuttle bus going round these 3 hotels and get in any onsen as you are still wearing their pyjama. The tempreture of onsen had decreased, valiety of food had also decreased, however if you consider the rate of hotel, it is still worth to stay. Free transfer from Sapporo station is available. No wifi connection available anywhere. Be ready to be offline while you stay. No international calls can make either.

Room Tip: The room near the lift is better for old people. Hotel is quite big.

The surroundings of this hotel is packed with lush greenery, weather rather cooling and the public bath is to go for. Dinner and breakfast were inclusive in this package and the room itself was huge as compared to the regular city places. reception service was mediocre, whilst we found the service staff at the restaurant to be more friendly. This hotel is kids friendly, nonetheless the area was huge enough to have that bit of quietness and zen for yourself.

It's a newly renovated hotel situated in a valley. The management group runs three sister hotels in the region. I like Kitayuzawa Mori no Soraniwa because (1) the floor-to-ceiling window wall frames a stunning snowy mountain scene in a super spacious lobby; (2) during day time you can access to the outdoor onsen-water swimming area for families; and (3) they have a huge play houses for kids in basement. This hotel is in contracts with tour groups so you will see groups check in. But the hotel is so big that they manage to accommodate the needs of tour groups as well as individual family parties like us. Dinner and breakfast buffers provide a wide range of choices and the roomy dining halls would allow you to enjoy your meals quite comfortably.

Our first night stay at hotel for our 8D7N Hokkaido/Tokyo Tour with VYoung Holidays in Bandar Puteri, Malaysia.
Hotel is far away and remote, no internet connection and zero English but front desk people are nice.
The room is divided into 2 section, 1 section has 2 beds and 1 section has a low table with four no leg chaisr and if you have additional guests, can open the closet and pull the mattress or request Front Desk to send housekeeping to prep it for you.
My first experience for a typical Japanese onsen where everyone stripped down to their birthday suit. Grab the Japanese onsen bathrobe pyjamas from room and put it on and head to the onsen place. Bring a big and small towel(for those like me who is our first time, this small piece of towel will help to calm your fear of feeling naked in public) from the room and leave your clothing in a basket and lock your room kwy in th3 lockers provided. You first clean and shower yourself thoroughly from head to toe before dipping yourself into the hot pools with various temperatures, 36 degree Celsius to 42. After you are done dipping yourself in the pools, clean and shower again before entering the locker room. Once you dried tourself with the big towel you brought from room, sit comfortably at the vanity tables and use the lotions and dryers provided. Great Experience and highly recommend this natural hot spring hotel.

It was dark when we were got to the hotel but we did not see the surrounding. The hotel itself is pretty big. The onsen is great! Different pools with different temperature. Did not try the outdoor one as it was ladies night but the feedback from the ladies were very good with snow falling on them as they were soaking! The buffet is very good with king crabs etc. The room were very clean and we did not have the problem of smoke filled rooms.
When we left and the drive through the valleys with the snow coming down is just fantastic!

The onsen here is pretty good. Not only they have the outdoor onsen like jacuzzi style and the look the of a regular swimming pool with a tiny water slide for kids. It was snowing when we were at the outdoor onsen, it was absolutely magical.

The indoor onsen clearly states the temperature of each pool which is amazing. They also have the smaller cold water pool for you to dip in for the "three internal of cold and hot".

The food in here is great too. It's a buffet style and you get plenty of choices of both japanese and western style food. The food is definitely above average than regular Japanese hotel buffet. The beef is highly recommended!

The room has the regular tatami and 2 western beds. The bathroom was small as usual but I've never used it cause I've been using the common bath for the onsen.

I don't think there's private onsen in this hotel & no swim suit (though I saw 1-2 tourist wore swim suit, but pls don't do that) The public onsen it's not bad, I went in december, it was very quiet, ~3-5 other guest only. I went in with my sis and our daughters, you will get use to to the Jap culture very fast..There's a sister hotel, which you can take their shuttle bus to enjoy outdoor onsen as well.
