This was our first experience of self catering. We prefer to stay in hotels and have everything done for us but this was far more relaxing and if we didn't want to cook we could go out to a restaurant or bars. The detached lodge was very well appointed, tastefully furnished and decorated, very clean, every convenience on hand and...

I found this accommodation via the internet and it looked very modern and clean, when we arrived we found it was as described on the web site, excellent with fantastic views over Scapa Flow and Flotta, everything was just perfect! Later that evening we met the owner Margret Coulston and we had a great 'Blether' over a nice glass of...

We had a week here, first visit to Orkney. The self catering units are clustered together, with the owner's house situated in the middle. There is a big shed alongside, and another small cottage immediately behind. So, it seemed more like a tiny village, but once inside our lodge, it all felt very private and quiet. In fact, we didn't...

Stayed for a week in 'Cava' and had a wonderful holiday. The lodge has spectacular views over Scapa Flow and is very well equipped and comfortable. The owner, Margaret, lives next door and she could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Good location for getting to ferries and airport which made exploring Orkney a real pleasure. Stayed in Cava Lodge for 4 nights over Christmas 2014. Although it was cold outside, it was wonderfully warm inside, thanks to outstanding underfloor heating. Great WiFi and a very Scandinavian-type of arrangement within the lodge itself. Clean, uncluttered, minimalist and yet at the same time warm and inviting. That is an incredible balance to achieve. When a place is...
