We stayed here on the first night of a ten day driving holiday round England. We ate lunch and an evening meal. The food was very good, but not ultra-sophisticated. The hotel boasts green credentials for its energy usage and there is a pleasant garden to the rear with decent planting and many bird feeders. An enormous rainwater tank and...

Excellent room with all required facilities, excellent food at breakfast and dinner but especially the taster menu for dinner. Ample car parking, bar/restaurant areas and wifi. Couldn't fault the entire stay! The bonus no mobile signal in the village.

Booked a 2 night deal on Travelzoo to celebrate our anniversary in an area we haven't spent much time in. We had a lovely spacious, comfortable room with a bowl of fruit and coffee/tea and we were given a glass of sparkling wine to celebrate our anniversary at dinner. The taster meal was included and it was delicious - all...

Battlesteads Hotel and Restaurant was an absolute delight, and such a surprise for a one night stay for two; with dinner and breakfast all for £99. Beautiful room with en suite, had lovely personal touches, (fruit basket, hand made soap, shower gel etc.) However, what made our stay truly memorable was the 8 course 'taster' dinner. It was 'Michelin' standard, with...

Excellent varied menu. Superb Taster Menu. Nearly all fruit and veg grown organically onsite. Otherwise, meat, fish etc., obtained from local high quality producers. Even all the preserves served are made in the kitchen. Also the entire wine list is organically sourced. This hotel claims to be the greenest hotel in the country. I can well believe it. The automatic...

Received a TRAVELZOO voucher as a gift, sadly, however was discouraged when I rang to ask if we could add another nights stay, the lady I spoke to was very abrubt and kept interupting me, not at all welcoming, explaining the offer had finished. I asked would she be prepared to compromise perhaps we could meet half way as the voucher...

Fantastic, lovely, friendly staff! The rate was £115 per night (including breakfast), so definitely on the expensive side for us, but the service more than made up for the price. The only other advice that I'd offer is to ask for a room on the garden side, not on the street. It can get a little noisy at night with...

This is a most attractive pub/hotel with lovely gardens at the rear. The food is superb and beautifully presented. The staff are friendly and attentive and very helpful. The rooms are really comfortable with all the usual additional touches that you would expect in an establishment of this quality.

We were booked in by a charming young man, Alex. Room fine for us. This is an old building so not like a modern, corporate hotel. We must have chosen the hottest day of the year so really enjoyed the garden. We loved the eight course tasting menu - very different. No good if you are not adventurous with your...
