This was a relaxing and beautiful trip to Onuma, Hakodate and visited with our Japanese sister in law and her husband. Lovely, peaceful accommodations and room amenities, including resort ware/slippers. Some amenities included spa/sauna, complimentary room items, and wifi. We noticed that a bit of the resort maintenance can be looked into such as exterior painting near dock walkway, exterior paneling and outdoor deck flooring near our room spa. Also filling juice containers in train themed bar room could be attended to. Otherwise, staff/service was professional and hospitable. Surrounding garden and walkways were well maintained with seasonal flowers. We enjoyed a French themed dinner, which can include a requested sommelier. The on site bakery was a plus, but note that some days they are closed. After enjoying our stay, we actually requested an extra day to explore nearby restaurants and parks/lake. We were thoroughly relaxed and look forward to a future visit.…

All the staff are amazingly friendly and would try their best to accomodate your request even if they do not speak English. It is nice to see that a significant segment of the staff are elderly. Our room have a private onset which is nice if you are not used to public onsen. Hotel grounds are amazing.Bar area and family area has an amazing model train set. The breakfast and dinners here are amazing!

We left Jozankei Tsuruga to come to Onuma Tsuruga. We paid HK$3,500 more per night for 4 of us compared with Jozankei Tsuruga. This is a small hotel. The rooms were of average sized, clean and Japanese décor (with western beds). The garden was well landscaped. The reason for the price difference is the meal included in the hotel price. Jozankei Tsuruga is buffet. Here the restaurant is French fusion and of high quality comparable to any Michelin star restaurant. It has efficient and attentive service and a good selection of wine and sake. The dinner was a 9-course meal with amuse bushe, sorbet, freshly baked bread with olive oil. I enjoyed the Wagyu tenderloin, crab meat and the bread. I recommend this hotel to visitors of Onuma Park.

This is a small 5 star luxury boutique spa resort and spa. There are very few rooms. good for a romantic get away. There are no lifts as there is only one floor above the ground level. It is extremely quiet and very good for very short romantic escapes. Food is good although there is a limited choice of restaurants. Main activity would be the hot spring baths. Rooms are very modern and well equipped.

The dinner taste really bad and they refuse to assist in any reservation despite me paying above 1k for a night. Blatantly told me the restaurants dont accept any reservations though it does as stated by other travellers, Only the room is worthwhile but im paying for half board and service.

Epuy is located near the Onuma Park. We opted for its semi-buffet lunch priced at 2300 yen before tax. There was a good selection of appetizers. There was 4 choices of main course, comprising 2 fish choices, a beef stewed in red wine and a chicken dish. Dessert was self-service from a selection of pastries. The meal ended with a serving of mousse and sorbet.

All the rooms have been just refurbished thus new and clean though a step is between the bed room and bath room. Dining is very fine at a lower price. Services are nice. A good antique audio system is very much standard of this chain. You can expect the Tsuruga quality available in any other Tsurugas.

Chinese New Year is often very tough to book good hotel in Hakkaido , so I searched for less popular location. So I stay in this new hotel in Onumakoen , as it is also close to Hakodate too . I arrived late at 5:30 due to 3 hours train delay from Sapporo. So I walk around 9-10 mins from the station due to snowing, once I arrived the European style modern hotel with English speaking gentlemen help me to check in and show to my room. I guess my room is one out of eight rooms have private outdoor onsen in the room. The room is very big with good size outdoor western style onsen , this is the first time I tried the western style onsen after staying in various Japanese onsen hotel at usd 1500 price range . I must say the quality and standard is nice and it is only around usd 1600 for everything including good selection of whisky and wine in the bar and restaurant. The resturant provided superb French /fusion food with very high standard, I would say it will charge me hkd 1300 per head in Hong Kong . I stayed in the hotel of the same group, and I guess more people will come in the future. You can also enjoy a 3 hours walk in the nearby national park in winter and take 35mins train to Hakodate and to spend 3/4 hours over there. Have a nice trip and hope this write up useful to you. A final note , I only recommend room with onsen , as the public onsen is relatively normal…

The brand new hotel is quite stylish. Open fire place, direct access to lake Onuma, nicely decorated, close to the train station, wonderful kaiseki dinner but standard room is small, totally overfurnished, no space for suitcase, tiny shower, the public onsen is also very small, the nice bar is filled with a model railwaystation and as such has no room left for guests, and definitely too expensive
