First the price. You can't beat Brocken Hutte's price for value and location. Don't book this place if you're adverse to climbing. Its located on a small hill and the road's closed to vehicles during winter. Hotel is meant for people who live to ski. You wake up and hit the slopes and come back to sleep. Everyone you meet...

A very nice surprise during our ski trip in Japan with my friends. The owner cooks awesome breakfast (free) and dinner (cheap price), we had a few feasts at her table. I strongly recommend her place for the location, the friendliness of the owner (she is learning English and does her best to communicate in English), the delicious meals and...

So many Aussies go to all the trouble of making their way to Japanese snow fields then do their best to avoid any sense they're actually in Japan. If this is you, you'll have no trouble finding accommodation and restaurants to cater to your bland, unilingual needs. However, if you want to enjoy not only great snow but also the...

What a great find. Tucked away behind a temple wth just a short walk to the gondola, this ryokan style place was perfect for the group. Big tatami rooms and a large lounge with a kotatsu made it a very comfortable stay. The owner was so friendly and made sure we were as comfortable as possible. Breakfast was great value...

I just spent 2 weeks in Nazawa onsen and Hakuba snowboarding. This was my second trip to Hakuba and I was over the moon we stumbled on the Broken Hutte for cost effective accommodation in Happo one. It is so close to everything but tucked away up a snow path in the trees 5 minutes walk from the Gondola and...

A delightful, homely accommodation. Just minutes from ski lifts but in a quiet location in a forest next to beautiful old temple. Comfortable rooms, most with views with mix of beds and tatami rooms. Japanese bath or shower. The host Sanae speaks some English, is endlessly helpful and is a superb cook. Her evening meals feature much food she grows...

We loved this place and would definitely go back. It's a lovely, quiet and friendly family run place, just a few minutes walk from the town and two of the lifts. The breakfasts are so delicious, we had the Japanese style each morning, and I definitely agree that the dinner here is nicer than any we had in the town....

Seems to be highly rated hotel, stayed for 10 days, and were duly disappointed. The good thing is that it is near to bus terminal at hapo. The negatives - hotel condition is quite run down - winter time, hotel very poorly heated so the whole premise is chilling like a freezer. Heating is greatly inadequate. - boiler is usually...

Nothing was too much trouble for the owner . She arranged ski hire, sending a parcel home from the Post Office, pick up from the lift at the end of the day.etc. There was plenty of space in the room, and the meals were really good home style cooking and plenty of it. Lots of variety of courses and better meals...

This hotel is nicely tucked away at the edge of the Wadano forest, yet within walking distance of the village and two lift stations (less than 5 minutes). It's a basic, simply Japanese style hotel. The owner speaks just a little English but we got by. She was very helpful in almost everything we needed. She helped us booking restaurants,...

“There were four of us so we had two rooms, the Japanese style rooms on the first floor were spacious for Japan with a little sun room. The Euro room downstairs had really comfortable beds and close to the bathrooms, both rooms were clean and comfortable.”
