A quirky traditional guesthouse that is set amongst the trees near Echoland but only 100 metres from the bus stop so super location Some fab eating joints nearby - the gyoza joint with the huge draught beers is a standout!! Lovely outdoor onsen couples can share ( private bookings) and a very helpful host ... he will make sure you...

Our family of four stayed for a week on a half-board basis; the service and food was superb. The host helped with everything from ski lift tickets and gear hire to recommending which resorts to visit (we skied at Happo-one, Goryu/Hakuba 47 and Iwatake) depending on the weather conditions. Kunugi's chef is very talented and her food is outstanding -...

There is nothing that I can add about the actual facilities that hasn't been said in other reviews. They are 110% on the mark. This place is almost unbelievable in how great it is. What I'd like to add is information about the actual owners of Kunugi.... My son and I came to Hakuba in mid Feb to ski for...

This was an absolutely fabulous hotel! My wife and I have traveled to Hakuba four years in a row and this was the most remarkable location we've stayed to date, not that any were bad. The most outstanding feature of this hotel was the breakfast and dinner that came with our room rate. I'd highly recommend purchasing the "half-board" option,...

Fantastic, completely under-rated boutique hotel. We spent four days here in early January 2016 and could not have had a better ski holiday experience. The place itself is in a charming wooden lodge, located reasonably close to the local bus stops and the rest of Echoland. The interiors were modern, immaculate and extremely comfortable. Highlights: (1) Food - the kitchen...

Kunugi, a nicely decorated wood house, really delighted us with warm hospitality and meticulous service! We were really surprised by amazing food, a French-style with touches of Thai/Asian accents, perhaps one of the best we ever had for this type of accommodation. You can book your own private small onsen room. Within less than five minutes walk to the main...

We are a young mid 20s couple and we stayed in kunugi for 8 nights. The ryokan itself is immaculate. So clean and tidy and very traditional looking, which adds to its charm. The rooms are cosy and warm and have everything you need. The property has 3 beautiful private onsens (which is a massive bonus!!!). One inside wooden small...

My partner and I were extremely impressed with the facilities and service at Kunugi. We spent our Christmas break indulging in the snow adventures of Hakuba and coming back to a place that offered the comfort and tranquility of Kunugi was exactly what needed. The biggest highlights were the private onsens and the 5 course French/Japanese cuisine that was served...

Lovely place, five minute walk to all the restaurants and bars, one minute walk to ski shuttle pick up, extremely helpful and friendly owner, places to leave your ski gear including drying racks for gloves hats etc, three onsens (hot tubs) that are free to use, free WiFi, nice filling breakfast included, and all for probably half the price you...

Both me and my partner have now stayed at this Hotel the last two ski seasons and have booked our 3rd stay for 2016. This place is 5 star all the way. Breakfast and dinners are amazing, you truly will be blown away. This place is absolutely immaculate. I have stayed at many so called 5 star hotels in my...
