I stayed here for 4 nights with my family on a ski trip. Initially we had booked one room for the 5 of us and found it to be too small for all of us. Fortunately the hotel staff were proactive and immediately offered us alternative rooms for our stay. The rooms are clean and the staff are incredibly attentive. They speak good English, are friendly and helped out a lot with restaurant and onsen recommendations. The actual hotel itself was very basic and getting up to the ski lift was a bit of a challenge if you're walking up with your gear. We left our ski gear at the shop we rented it from, which was right next to the lift. However, it was nicely located in the village and we were walking distance from some great restaurants and onsens. Would definitely consider staying here again but would love it if a shuttle up the hill to the ski lift was considered for guests!…
We spent 5 nights in Elizabeth during our skiing trip in Nozawa Onsen. Location is just perfect, few streets away from Nagasaka ski lift. It's a bit of uphill, but shouldn't be a problem with skiing equipment either. Staff is just wonderful, we really liked the receptionist lady. Her english was perfect, she was very helpful and super cute. We tried two types of rooms: standard double room with bathroom, and twin room with shared bathroom. We prefered the twin room with shared bathroom because it was more spacious and cheaper. Double bed was way too small, it was uncomfortable. If you don't mind using a common bath, then I highly recommend not to pay extra money for a room that has its own bathroom. It is much smaller, there is no enough space for your skiing stuff. The bathing habits are shocking first, but you can get used to it. The hotel has its own onsen that is pretty awesome. Only downside was the breakfast. We didn't like the variety and quality. We missed the fresh vegetables and fruits. I would chose this hotel anytime again.…
Wonderful stay in Nozawa and particularly the Elizabeth. My partner and I stayed in the traditional rooms which had two futons and a toilet, which was much more spacious and comfortable than we thought it would be. The onsen was always clean and lots of public ones nearby as well. Staff carried our heavy snowboard bag and suitcase up to our room and provided us with lovely slippers for our stay. They were kind enough to ask for our eating preferences as it was the Fire Festival week and restaurants were filling up fast. Our whole weeks meals were planned out and booked for us along with a map and schedule so we didn't forget where we were going each night! Breakfast selection was good with both continental and warm options available, with tea and coffee available all day in the front sitting room in front of the warm fire. Such a lovely experience and wish we could've stayed longer!…
I recently stayed here for 10 nights in a Western Room with bath and shower. They also have Japanese style rooms. The lovely staff are the friendliest and most helpful I have encountered anywhere. Theyt go out of their way to make everyone’s stay as pleasant as possible. The rooms are small, but comfortable and warm, with an in room safe (probably not required in Japan), a good closet for hanging clothes. There is also a useful USB port. Also in the hotel, there are onsen for men and women, free washing machine and dryer, nice place to relax with wine or beer, log fire, games for children, books. There are shoes and boots provided to wear outside, and umbrellas if it is raining. Breakfast is continental buffet, with hot dishes alternating each 3 days. I highly recommend staying here, as it is also only a 5 minute walk to the ski lifts and town in the opposite direction.…
Our family of 4 srayed at Elizabeth for 6 nights and we were all very impressed. We opted for the traditional tatami room with adjoining living area and it was sensational. Lots of storage cupboards, very very spacious, gorgeous bathroom/toilet/shower rooms. We were greeted with friendly faces who were most welcoming. Staff at Elizabeth paid for our taxi from information centre to accomodation and dragged all our big heavy bags up 2 flights of stairs. Very knowledgable staff who directed us to some really delicious japanese restaurants. Just a short easy stroll to main street and a short but uphill stroll to the Nagasaka gondola. Brilliant location and a personal thank you to all the staff at Elizabeth who made our stay very memorable
