We had a special, peaceful stay in this old, charming tempel. We loved the bath and the morning ceremony, as well as the breakfast! Great service at the tempel as well.. Unfortunately it was minus degrees when we stayed there, and with paperthin walls it got too cold at night (so we didn't sleep that well). We also tried the...

This was such an amazing experience. Yochi, the monk who did our check-in was so welcoming and friendly. He explained to us the best sites to visit, which buses to catch, where to buy food etc etc. We were made to feel at home as soon as we arrived. I recommend doing the morning sutra ceremony at 6.20am, it's such...

We were there for one night, but was so nice that I would repeat. First of all, it's not cheap, but among the ones that you can make reservation through Internet, it's maybe the cheapest. The location is very good, because it has a bus stop very close ( you have to take the bus to arrive at the zone)...

If anyone is planning on overnighting in Koyasan it should be ready and willing to pay quite high prices. Taking that into account, Yochiin is a nice choice: the temple itself and its surroundings are beautiful, rooms are quite large and certainly confortable and if you order too the meals pack (which is enjoyable although I discovered that vegetarian Japanese...

It was a fascinating experience to spend a night at a temple in Koyasan, to share in a morning Buddhist ceremony and sit by the beautiful garden. The people at the temple were very pleasant. It is not surprising that half the temples in Koyasan seek to support themselves by providing rather expensive accommodation and meals . However, to make...

This is a nice place to stay for a simple, traditional Japanese experience. Might be a bit light for the money payed, but in the end it was a good relaxing experience. I will try to say this only once at the beginning: Koyasan is (beautiful) tourist trap, expect high prices for everything. Reception: a very kind monk greeted us...

We stayed two nights in this temple and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It is a very traditional environment, including shared bathing facilities and traditional vegetarian food. We were met at the door upon arrival and showed straight to our room, which was traditional and comfortable, with a gorgeous view into the centre garden. We elected to have dinner at the...

Couldn't fault anything here. The temple itself is set in a beautiful small garden and is extremely peaceful. Our room overlooked the zen garden in the middle and was spacious/comfortable. The shared onsen is great, and the ceremony in the morning where a monk explained their approach to meditation/chanting was a nice touch. There are some fairly rigid rules (e.g....

Discovered Koyasan Yochiin Ryokan from TripAdvisor and we were very satisfied with our one night stay here. Pros - Friendly staff - Supper and breakfast was good (even for non-seafood people) - Morning prayers were a wonderful, educational experience - Very quiet rooms - Family Mart down the street (only one in Koyasan) Cons - A bit of a walk...

Yochi-in temple, Koyasan I have stayed at Yochi-in temple in two people room for one night (12,000 ¥). My friend has advance requested with dinner and breakfast (5,000¥ per person). I think price is same in group of temples that this is good. My room is the third room on the second floor which if you open window you will...
