This hotel is a masterpiece of architecture, truly beautiful space! But It's very overpriced... the restaurants are all booked... and the front desk is unpleasantly dismissive to offer us any type of alternative. Worst service in japan, we were very disappointed!

Benesse House offers an excellent opportunity to immerse one self in the world of art. The hotel itself, both in terms of interior design and exterior spaces, is a work of art by a great architect, the grounds have a number of colorful and interesting art works. Nearby (a reasonable walk or a short shuttle ride) is the Benesse House...

Naoshima is an experience. A fishing village turned art enclave, it now draws an interesting crowd of people. Benesse House is probably the nicest lodging on the island and staying there offers some unique experiences. For art loves, staying here grants you access to the Museum after hours, which is great. I stayed at the oval, which only added to the...

We stayed two nights at Benesse House in Park, one of four accommodation options. Our room was beautifully designed and large by Japanese standards. There was a bathroom and a separate toilet. The finishes were white walls with pale yellow timbers that gave a warmth to the room. High clerestory ceilings included a row of windows that allowed lots of...

Staying at Benesse House is a must when visiting Naoshima. We stayed for one night in two of the six rooms in the most exclusive part of the museum / hotel, the Oval. The whole hotel/museum was designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando and just being able to stay in a building by him is priceless. I invited my parents...

As you jump of the boat and grab your connection over to Benesse House you cant help but get swept away in the moment. This island is all about the contemporary art and architecture. There is no point in spending the money to come here if this is not your scene. Yes, its expensive, but do stay the night and...

my wife and I arrived by ferry past the iconic red pumpkin sculpture by Yayoi Kusama and we're taken by hotel minibus having dropped off our luggage as we were too early for check in directly to the Chi Chu museum. The hotel is spread out on a hillside in 4 sections by the architect Ando who specialized in minimalist...

We stayed three nights in the Benesse House museum. It was so special and highly recommended. We were on the second floor. The room had incredible peaceful views over the inland sea. To stay inside the museum was great as you could wander the exhibits at night. We could hear the room above us so if you want dead quiet...

My daughter and I have made reservations to stay 2 nights in the Oval at Benesse in July, 2016. I have a few questions:

1. When I booked on the website, it stated that breakfast is included in the room rate for Oval rooms. Is that correct? If that is the case, should I just mark "no" for breakfast when I make the meal selections? Is the breakfast in a separate section for people staying in the Oval rooms or is it in the main restaurant by the Park?

2. I read that dining choices are very limited on the island, so I have gone ahead and reserved one dinner in the French restaurant and one dinner in the Japanese restaurant for my 2 night's stay. However, I would also like to see the "Open Sky" night show one of the evenings. I will be staying on the weekend. My concern is in July, I believe the show will end around 8:15-8:30 pm, but the latest dinner reservation time slot is 8 pm. What are my options?

3. During our time on Naoshima Island, we are thinking of taking the ferry to Teshima Island and spend a few hours there. How easy is it to make that trip? How much time should I plan to spend on Teshima?

4. We will be using our Rail Pass to get to Okayama station. How much time should we give ourselves to go from Okayama station to Naoshima, then from Naoshima back to Okayama station? Is it easy to find the right trains/transfer/ferry? I have read the island's website, but am still a bit confused.

5. Once we get to Naoshima, do we have the option to stow our luggage, if the room is not ready yet?

Thank you for in advance for any insight!
