In my opinion, a visit to Japan isn't complete until you visit at least one Onsen (a Japanese hot spring) and Kurakowa Onsen in Minamioguni is one of the best. It consists of a couple of dozen onsens that run in a cooperative fashion, Ryokan Wakaba being one of them. From the get go, the staff there were extremely helpful...

The staff was extremely helpful. The entrance of this hotel is in another side if you drive. I walked downstairs to the hotel and told the staff we could not find the way. He immediately helped and drove a company car with me to lead our car to the hotel. Hot spring is excellent especially the outdoor one. We could...

I spent one night here as a solo traveler, and had an excellent experience. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, and clearly explained all the Ryokan's facilities. The room was huge, with an entrance foyer, toilet and basin, tatami mats for sleeping/relaxing, plus an alcove with chairs and a table. The onsen was excellent - there were indoor...

We spent 2 nites in this ryokan. The dinner for the first nite was amazing and tasty. It offered seafood hot pot and horse meat sashimi. Also, it was willing to pick us up from a bus stop requiring 10 min drive after we finished a day trip in Aso mountain. Highly recommended!

Wakaba is a small onsen ryokan close to town. It is a well-run place with a friendly homey atmosphere. A few weeks before our arrival, they emailed me about our food preference and arrival time. Since we took the bus, someone waited at the bus stop to take us to the ryokan. Onsens are a bit smaller but everything was...

Stayed here for two nights which we would highly recommend anyone to do in an Onsen village. Many people stay one night so the feel when you have the second day is amazing. As in most Japanese luxury Ryokan the arrival service is impeccable with all explanations and welcome tea as well as a tour of your room. Anything they...

Wakaba is a perfect ryokan!! Although the price is quite high, it is the best experience for this trip. The staffs are really helpful. They reserved buses for us to and from Kurokawa. They picked us up from the bus station even though the ryokan is 10 mins away by walk. Dinner is superb. I did not expect high quality...

Absolutely amazing to describe to this hotel. We're reserved one night with meals. Start from the parking, reception, guest room & meals. All those things are high expectations. The staff called Ms Hitomi did a great job during our stay. She welcomed us when check in, serve the dinner & breakfast with warm hospitality. The full course Japanese dinner is...

We drove for more than 2 hours from Fukuoka but it was well worth the trip. We were lucky to encounter some flurries on the way there in our minivan for 6 persons but the road conditions were good and easy. We were warmly welcomed and had a lovely Soba lunch in restaurant next to the inn. Our room had...

Actually it was second time to visit Kurokawa onsen. It is small town but has all you need. Ryokan Wakaba staffs are really friendly and provide great services. (There is a Korean staff as well.) The outdoor and private hotspring were extremely great. You can take a bath as opening the window and breathing fresh air. I hope you enjoy...
