Forgot to review sankara at the time. It is the best place my wife and I have ever stayed. We had a week here and absolutely loved it , the chefs were amazing we had a daily spar treatment and 5 course meal every night and I can't put into words how impressed we were with the level of customer...

Yakushima is known as one of the most magical islands in Japan. This hotel has embraced this theme and provides amazing services. It's a perfect getaway to unwind and being pampered. The ambiance of the hotel, the food, the room, the spa & any services at the hotel are over the top. Each time, we went in/out of the hotel,...

Very nice and friendly small island. Gives a nice warm feeling from the locals. Small airport and one road that goes around the island. Hotel staff sweet young lady picked us up at the airport. She drove us and gave us an overall view of the island and hotel. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by a row of staff...

I had a super nice 2-night stay at the Sankara Hotel at Yakushima which was perfect for my short weekend getaway. I went to Yakushima to hike the famous moss forest and it was so nice to be pampered in this beautiful resort. Ryoko Ado, who is the hotel manager, speaks and writes fluent English and she gave me a...

There is absolutely nothing to fault about sankara. My room was well-appointed, service was top notch and personal. Food was mind-blowingly good. If you are looking to have a quiet, soul-healing, break away from the hustle and bustle of life, in a beautiful property set in a beautiful lush green island, look no further than sankara. The hotel staff bend...

We went to Yakushima for the outdoor activities and found the Sankara to be the perfect place to wind down after a long day on our feet. Large rooms, with a western bed for sleeping, a lower futon-style bed for napping and a couple sofas for reading and lounging. The bathrooms were very spacious as well. We enjoyed the hotel...

I had read the reviews but I was still not sure what to expect but I can honestly say the resort exceeded our expectations in every way. The resort hosts spoke better English than we expected and there was always someone on hand to help (including how to operate the washer dryer for our hiking gear). Having a laundry room...

We stayed four nights at the Sankara hotel & spa on the enchanting island of Yakushima. My friend Joshua and I worked on projects ( photography and sounds for a music album ) making our stay both 'business' and 'pleasure' The combination of these two worked out wonderfully. The hotel is located slightly against a hill, covered with ancient trees....

We stayed for one night earlier this month for our honeymoon. It was one of the best experiences we had on our honeymoon. The staff at Sankara deserve a lot of praise - they were warm, helpful, thoughtful and did everything they could to make us feel special and welcome. We were upgraded for free to a room 1 grade...

I traveled to Yakushima with my friend Dustin to work on a photography project. We had heard a lot about the island, with many of my Japanese friends telling me that it was one of those places you just had to visit before you died, so we didn’t require much more convincing than that. At the airport, the staff from...
