Traquair House is a very special place. It somehow combines the grandeur of centuries of history with a relaxed informal charm. It is unique and wonderful. A treasure. The woodland walk is a lovely gentle stroll by the burn and along the banks of the Tweed and is ideal for children and dogs. The Maze is quite difficult and a...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights using a living social voucher. David the owner and his son Jamie were fantastic hosts very attentive they catered for all of our needs. The food was excellent would highly recommend eating at the hotel. The surrounding area was fantastic for walking/bird watching. Special mention to David...

Hi there, What a lovely review but I think this was meant for the Traquair Arms Hotel and not ourselves - will report it and see if we can get it changed for you.

I was met by Susan, who was an utter delight. She gave me a good orientation of the facilities and left no question unanswered. I booked this with little research, not realizing the significant history of this house/castle/manor. There is a lot to explore. The room was huge, bed was super comfy, breakfast was generous, and view of the maze...

The house is beautiful and setting is lovely. There are many interesting items in the house, like a bed made for Mary, Queen of Scots. It's almost a musuem, but less crowded. This way day trip to just visit the house, not a stay.

I can't comment on the location as a hotel as I was only a day visitor. We arrived at the gatehouse to pay our admission, having been in possession of some " 2 for the price of 1 vouchers ". So, being a party of four, we showed our vouchers and purchased the tickets. The lady at the gatehouse checked...

We stayed at Traquair House on our honeymoon. The house and grounds are spectacular and the staff (including Lola the collie) very welcoming and hospitable. Our room was large and comfortably appointed with gorgeous antiques and all desirable amenities. The maze is particularly enjoyable. Incredible historic property!

Met at the door by kilted Robin - abrupt, snippy and far from welcoming in his tone. Traquair House, fortunately, made up for his attitude problem. A very interesting house with so much historical significance, and yet it is still a family home. The restaurant, 1745, was excellent.

We stayed 2 nights in this stunning, authentic historical house. The White room was large, spotless, full of traditional furniture including a 4 poster bed. Complimentary drinks, mints, brochure. Lovely thick fluffy dressing gowns...! Large full bathroom spotless. Lovely full Scottish breakfasts and a superb dinner. Excellent staff - friendly and very helpful. And it's own brewery !!! Wonderful...!

This was the first of our honeymoon tour of castles around the country. The tranquil and romantic setting made it the perfect getaway after busy wedding celebrations. Thanks to the marvellous staff, from the very start we experienced a personal high quality service that was unobtrusive and ensured we really got the most from our stay. The breakfast was simply...
