What a beautiful inn! Lots of quirky features such as an indoor well and a little courtyard with neat raised beds of fruit and vegetables. Loads of character with beams, exposed brickwork and fires and a wonderful welcoming atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, greeting and waiting upon us and with a party of 10 for a...

We frequently need an overnight stop in Essex and were delighted with our stay at the Angel. Good parking, a warm. clean. high quality room, so so good breakfast and very friendly staff. Particularly good feature is that one can access your room without going into the bars

We visited between Christmas and New Year. On arrival we were welcomed and shown to our room. As others have said the rooms reflect the age of the building and retain a lot of character without loss of comfort. It was bitterly cold outside but the rooms heated very well and our every need was catered for. The food was...

The Angel Inn is in a small Constable Country town in the heart of Dedham Vale A 16th Century building with much character and period features, roaring log fires and a good restaurant Could not fault the rooms - they were small'ish but in keeping with the building along with a very good and modern bathroom Breakfast was very good...

We wanted to visit the Flatford Mill sites and the picturesque towns and villages of Suffolk and found that this was very well placed for daily excursions, with a return for a welcoming bar and restaurant. Our room, though lacking any comfortable chairs, was charming and originally furnished, with a recently refurbished bathroom. Small niggles were the absence of shower...

My wife and I stayed at the Angel Inn last Saturday night; we arrived to be welcomed by a smiling Becky who took us to our room which was spotless and well appointed and had clearly been recently renovated to a high standard. We had drinks in the bar before going out to dinner with local friends, sadly we were...

6 of us stayed down the road on the golf course lodges, and walked up to the Angel on a Monday afternoon. We spent a good few hours in the pub. I wish there were pubs like this where I live in B'ham! Really nice quiet relaxed atmosphere, real open fire, was great.

8 of stayed here last few days on the 'dinner with a twist' deal i.e. 2 nights with dinner at both pubs and it worked great. Interesting menus and great quality food with good mix of flavours. The staff are lovely, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel very special at the Anchor with...

This w/e was a family reunion and all agreed that the rooms were comfortable and convenient. Breakfasts were excellent and 'the twist' of one dinner at The Anchor, Nayland was great. We particularly enjoyed the food at The Anchor. The dinner at The Angel was not quite as good and the service we received at dinner at The Angel was...
