Set in a wonderful location the Hotel Karteuse delivers on a number of fronts. Being located in a converted monastery that dates from the 1300's is a great start. The buildings, church and courtyards set the scene. The rooms are a standard European 4 star quality. Not large, but perfectly clean and comfortable and quiet. Everything you would want for... More

Very beautiful historical milieu. Lively bar and restaurant in the first floor. Room has always been clean and comfortable. Old wooden floor in the room is bit noisy when walking but not sure if really a problem for room below. Food in restaurant was good, no need to travel elswhere after long working day. Staff is friendly and check in... More

Set in the foothills of the alps, this former monastery-turned-hotel is like something out of a fairy tale. The rooms are modern and the exterior look is medieval. The bed is very comfortable, the facilities are modern and crisp, and the price is reasonable. The food at the on-site restaurant is top notch, even popular with the locals. Great place... More

I lived in this facility for several months as a student studying abroad with the Franciscan University of Steubenville and they were among the best of my life. The rooms in the Hotel Kartause range from very basic to what you would expect of a 4 star hotel. The food offered in the restaurant is exquisite and the staff are... More

We stayed only for one night here in June and enjoyed the place very much. We booked spontaneusly on the same day over booking.com as we looked for accomodation near Lunzer lake. We arrived in 10 min after booking a room and got immediately our keys. The hotel is a former monastery dating back to the 13th century. It was... More

I was fortunate to spend a semester in college living here in the 1990's. The recent photos others have shared on the site, show that it is well maintained and truly a site to behold. While I was an undergraduate, I lived in the hotel for 5 months. The architecture renders one speechless. Courtyards and arches and gardens. Simply stunning.... More

Kartause Gaming is an 800+ year old monastery renovated as a study abroad college campus and hotel / restaurant. Approx 150 students are in residence during the fall and spring semesters. There is plenty of room for hotel guests separate from the campus residents. And the hotel and restaurant are completely separate from the student dorm and dining hall. Gaming... More

We stayed at the Hotel Kartause in Gaming last weekend and the whole experience was amazing. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is gorgeous and the views from the hotel are breathtaking. The rooms were slightly small and spartan, but recently renovated and in top-notch shape. (You truly feel like you are in an old monastery.) Breakfast was... More
