I read with interest the above reviews and thought I would leave a review. I spent a few days at Chateau de Quarante after a conference in Barcelona. I wanted to see Languedoc and this seemed and indeed was an excellent place to stay. I chose this spot as I was traveling alone, didn't want to have to drive after...

Thank you Nicole and Klaus for your hospitality and kindness! My wife Bettina and I (Frederic) stayed one week in August 2009 in the Chateau de Quarante and we really enjoyed it. My Grand-Mother Elise lives in the village of Quarante for more than 50 years. She's now the most senior inhabitant of the village (aged 98) and we didn't...

The website is very enticing, with lovely pictures of food, but this guest house is let down by too many things. Accept that you cannot use the house between 10am and 5pm as there is plenty to visit in the area. However, being dictated mealtimes to the minute is hardly relaxing. The owner uses chambres d'hote 'regulations' as an excuse...

The first time I fell in love with Chateau de Quarante and the delightful owners, Nicole and Klaus, was 12 years ago. The experience of staying at their enchanting and lovely home left me with such a wonderful memory that I always wanted to go back. Twelve years later, just this month (5/09), I was fortunate enough to pay another...

Staying at Chateau de Quarante was the highlight of our trip to France. Never staying at a Chateau before I didn't know what to expect but Nicole and Klaus welcomed us into their home with open arms. The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Nicole and Klaus obviously take great pride and thought into what they serve. Nicole...

I wrote the comments below about Chateau de Quarante over a year ago, but I didn't think about posting them to TripAdvisor. Five of us attended a cooking class taught by the owners in the chateau's kitchen, so although we saw all the rooms at the chateau and had the run of the place for most of the day we...

"Mean people suck" is the postcard, framed with upholstery matching the couches, greeting you upon entering the chateau. The building itself is beautiful, with lovely tile floors, high ceilings, and big windows looking out on the grounds, which include a pretty long walking circuit. But indoors the decor is incongruous peachy pastels and furniture hearkening back to the 80's in...

Bonjour PeripateticPhD, and thank you for expressing your opinions on your brief stay in our home. We are very grateful for the complimentary comments you wrote about the architecture of our Château, our gourmet food and the walking circuit in our park. Obviously we deeply regret that so many other things were not up to your expectations and maybe you...

Please note when booking this hotel that you will be made to leave by 10am in the morning and the doors will be locked. They reopen at 5pm and no sooner. I had heat stroke at the beach and could not get back in to our roon to rest. They also lock the doors at midnight and you do not...
