Having stayed at another SI resort further down the Kinabatangan river (at Abai) my immediate reaction when arriving for a brief meal at the Kinabatangan riverside lodge enroute to lahad Datu was it felt more touristy and larger It's setting is in a more developed area too (Sachau) which was one of first areas opened up to tourism - due...

Dear MJH1, Thank you for your feedback. Yes, Sukau is more developed compare to Abai due to accessibility and tourism development. Now Sukau is slowly developing into a small town with school, clinic and small markets area. Abai still very remote and the local young people mostly will go to Sukau or Sandakan for further study and job employment. Cheers....

Just spent one night here, came in by river from Sandakan, about 3 hour journey. In hindsight as only 1 night it would possibly have made more sense to stay at the Abai Jungle Lodge which was similar standard & closer. However, we really enjoyed our stay, accommodation was average in standard which we found perfect for the area, the...

Dear Annie C, Thanks for your feedback. We appreciate your love on the wildlife searching river cruise and our practice on dressing in our Malay traditional cloth, the sarong! It is our pleasure to serve you and we are happy too to know you enjoy while staying with us. Cheers. Yeeveon from S.I.Tours and Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge

We stayed here for one night after the Abai lodge and before heading to Tabin wildlife reserve. The rooms are basic but clean and we managed fine without aircon. We liked the wearing of sarongs at dinner and it was nice that everyone participated. The food was pretty good and they happily catered for vegetarians. The highlight is the boat...

SI Tours owns and runs this lodge, MY nature resort in Sandakan and Abai Jungle lodge. This organisation needs a major shake up! The rooms in this lodge and at Abai are basic and if you want air conditioning you pay an extra 100 ringit per night - which you are not informed about until you get there. We were...

Hi mspazz, Thank you for your feedback. Yes, S.I.Tours owned and run Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge, Abai Jungle Lodge and MY Nature Resort. The company has been in the tourism industry for 26th years now! Regarding to the air-conditional room, so sorry about it. These air-conditioner rooms are just added few months ago and it's standby for any kind of emergency....

We were only one night at the Riverside Lodge - but we wish we had spent two nights so that we could enjoy the wildlife along the river a bit more. There is a lovely "patio" at the jetty where you can just relax under large ceiling fans. The rooms are basic, but clean. Our room was very hot. You...

Stayed here briefly after Abai Jungle Lodge. Our guide (from SI Tours) offered the chance for a longer cruise to look for elephants, so we only arrived back after dark, and left after an early breakfast the next day. We stayed in rooms without air conditioning, which were comfortable despite the heat. Beds were good, and good insect screening meant...

My wife and I started our trip down the Kinabatangan at the Abai Jungle Lodge, and then to the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. The wildlife was fantastic, and we were so thankful to have Akok from S.I Tours as our guide. Knowledgeable, gracious, and had a good sense of humour. His ability to spot and identify wildlife was incredible. We would...

We stayed here two nights as the Base point for sightseeing on the kinabatangan river. As other reviews have mentioned, the room is basic but functional and clean. It's worth noting, we left a window open to try and cool the place down as there was no air con, and it's hot...don't do that. We ended up with a squirrel...

Dear Tara W, Thank you for your feedback. We always remind our in-house guests to close all the windows before leaving their room to avoid wildlife to explore guests' room, it's a wild jungle with a lot of naughty wildlife here!
