Entertainment suite is below rooms..extremely loud music/ noise until at least 12.30am! Room not providing adequate basic supplies, no shower mat in bath so was unsafe, access to wi fi should be easier to get rather than having to ask staff (you get a code which lasts 24 hours). Should have at least have been explained at checkin. Hotel is linked to caravan park so owners have access to hotel..Makes it very busy and not the peaceful experience we hoped for. Pool much smaller than anticipated and busy busy with children..no separate adult pool..We didn't get to use facilities which was the plan. Standard of room left us disappointed..bedding basic..dirty marks on throws, sofa bed extremely uncomfortable. Staff in lounge/restaurant all very nice but getting basic orders wrong. Wasn't cheap for 2 nights in a Family Executive Suite..the noise was just too much and stay definately overpriced. Really disappointed. Sadly will not be returning.

This is a good hotel the location for the view is amazing. We stayed as a family there were 11 of us that stayed in different types of rooms. None of us had any complaints. The breakfast was really good. The rooms have air conditioning, which was wonderful! My only real complaint would be checking was a little bit hectic. I did think they were having a few issues that were computerised so that obviously made it worse. Also in the morning for breakfast they only do basically instant coffee which for somebody like me who really loves their coffee is quite disappointing. Other than that really lovely food and really lovely people, just a really nice team overall.

This was our first day trip for our Hamilton Baptist Church Seniors' group. We chose this hotel based on location, recommendation and menu and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant manager was so helpful when we booked and so helpful in looking after us. Staff were fantastic: nothing was too much trouble. Food was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We all had fish n chips, steak pie or salad - every dish was fresh, and tasty. The toast when we arrived was an added bonus! We were expecting bite sized cakes and scones and were delighted to savour the full-sized treats! Every one of our group of 46 thoroughly enjoyed our visit (quite a challenge!) and were requesting a return trip even before we left! Our heart-felt thanks to all for making this such a memorable day.

On arrival, the room wasn't ready for 3pm check-in, so we went to the horizon lounge for a drink until the room was ready. we got the bar to call 40 mins later & the room was ready. I did request a late checkout of 12pm, which was accepted free of charge . The room 112 family executive suite was clean enough & large for a family of 5 it's a bit dated but nice enough for our stay & the view is amazing . The beds do need some new mattress as rather lumpy. This is our 3rd stay & all have been the same. The pool changing area is disgusting & if I didn't have children I probably wouldn't have went in I went to my room in my towel after our time in the pool as I wouldn't get ready in them. The pool area is dated & needs a huge refurbishment. Maybe money made from TV series should be used to sort this out as it's not pretty. The Kid's arcade area half the thing's were out of order or money would get stuck & staff were not allowed to refund the money. The restaurant was a lovely area to sit in with nice views staff were lovely & food was also very nice. Would we return? No, as a lot of things need updated pool area, arcades, the inside ponds with fish are filthy & definitely need to upgrade their mattresses . Hopefully, these things all get sorted through time & I would consider returning. Ps Has breakfast delivered to the room which was very nice lot's of choice

Just returned from a 2 night stay with family (9 of us in total). Kids loved the swimming pool, softplay and arcades. Had breakfast and dinner in hotel, both lovely. Waiting staff are a credit to the hotel, nothing too much trouble and service first class. Stayed in the executive family room, rooms lovely, clean and view from the balcony amazing. Will definitely return to the hotel.

Once we got over the disappointment of our Premier Deluxe Room, the rest of our stay was ok. we paid for Premier Deluxe Room with sea view and what we got was a normal double room whiich is expected in a 4 star hotel and although you could see the sea it was hardly a sea view. The room is very small with very little space around the bed. The telephone in our room didnt work, one of the bedside lamps did not work, one of the spot lights above the bed needed repalced and the heated towel rail in the bathroom which did have a red light on it was cold the whole time meaning the bathroom was very cold. The restaurant and lounge areas were comfortable and the staff very friendly. The food was lovely. The pool area was disappointing as 2 of the water features were not working.

My Husband and I are just back from one night at the Bay Hotel and Iam glad I didn’t read the more recent reviews on here as I might not have went! We found the Hotel, staff and our room to be lovely, we were in 101 and the view was stunning to say the least. Yes I would agree the swimming pool is a bit tired and windows needed clean but this did not make my experience any less enjoyable, We enjoyed a nice meal and drinks served by lovely staff and young staff who are a credit to the team so well done’! The breakfast was hot and very tasty , so much better than buffet when it’s not hot enough . Thank you and we will definitely be back .

We'd stayed here 3.5 years ago in a family exec suite and didn't have the best experience but thought we would try again and hoped they'd changed the mattresses. Premium priced rooms but still have the very poor quality beds they did back then.. you feel every lump, bump and spring. You're paying for the view and space. Generally clean enough but the bathroom needed deep cleaning. Dust on the shower screen and it hadnt been cleaned properly..glass all streaky. Clearly hadn't been refreshed before our check-in. The toilet brush needed binning! Attention to detail lacks - curtains missing hooks so not hung up properly for example, loose plugs, tired furniture. Wifi didn't work in the room so had to get voucher code from reception. Can't say reception staff are very welcoming, friendly or helpful. They don't seem to like you putting dinner etc on your room bill and push to get you to pay as you go making you feel awkward. The pool area could be better, the changing rooms are awful and the smell in the toilets is horrendous. The restaurant needs its own review.. average service and the food? Well we opted to get a takeaway the 2nd night. The bar is nice enough but a 20 minute wait for a lukewarm cappuccino pretty much sums it up. Nice staff but poorly organised - a manageress more focussed on cleaning placemats than helping her team out it seems. Despite all its shortcomings, I'd recommend it if you're not fussy at not having luxuries normally found in £166 rooms.. such as nice mattresses, water, hairdryer, robes etc. The size of the room, the view and location is what commands its premium price tag not the quality of its provision and friendly service. We'd still go back but purely for the tranquil setting and not for its facilities.

Whew ... don't know how you got 4 stars! The bed was sagging and lumpy and the wi-fi network is dreadful. Advice to other guests - don't go into rooms on ground floor 127, 128 and 129. The view of the bay is blocked by bushes. The lifts don't work for this floor so you'll carry suitcases down a staircase. On a positive note ... the staff are friendly and the breakfast is excellent.

Stayed in the place for one night, thank the lord! My friend and I booked to stay here for overnight, as a wee getaway. I'm 63 and my friend is 52. We arrived, too early to book in, so we went for a stroll along the nearby beach. Got back to the hotel just after 6pm and booked in. We were given a room on the ground floor, which was actually below the ground floor. No lift to take cases down. I m partially sighted and the lighting was motion activated, so I struggled both with my case and trying to see the stairs, whilst moving down them but more of that later. We had booked a table in the restaurant and the room was called just after 8pm, to say that our table was ready, all reasonable so far? Well not all so far. When we booked in the woman on reception, Melissa, made us feel as welcome as the proverbial! She was very rude and practically threw the room card at us. Excuse us Melissa for keeping you in a job. Now back to dinner? We arrived and were seated, given a menu and asked if we wanted to order drinks? Nice idea we thought. we were wrong!!! As we debated whether or not to buy a bottle of wine with our meals, the waitress told us she was sorry but she was not to serve us alcohol? What a compliment we thought, this girl thinks we're under 18? Sadly we were wrong again! What as actually happening was this. The "bar manager" had sent over this poor young girl to tell us that we couldn't purchase alcohol because we were drunk??? We asked to speak to him and he then came over and repeated what we'd been told. Apparently, his opinion was that in our best interests, he would or should not serve us any more alcohol. We asked on what he was basing this opinion and he gave the, frankly, laughable reply that "I have my sources". I think his name was Alexander, although we didn't find him great. I can see a future for you, Alexander, in the Secret Service, with all your sources. Although if they're as reliable as this source, you best defect sooner rather than later. His attitude stank, frankly and if this is an example of how you treat customers, you ain't gonna survive in your job too long. Next time you go for training, tell the teacher they need to use more chair and less whip! Now back to dinner, oh wait a minute, we didn't have any dinner. We felt so embarrassed, after our encounter with Alex, I'm going to call him Alex from now on, that we never had any food. As we were barred, by Alex, from buying any alcohol in his establishment, we managed to buy a coffee, green tea and a bottle of water, although we weren't sure if Alex would allow the caffeine buzz from the coffee but we got away with it...phew! Sadly though, the bar closed and Alex came over to tell us. At 9:40pm Alex returned to tell us, and I do mean tell, that we had to vacate his bar. Then Alex decided that things weren't moving quick enough and decided to tap the back of my chair in order to move me from it. You must be really proud of yourself Alex, trying to intimidate two women? Now, I think I should mention that I am partially sighted and do have difficulty moving quickly in crowds, for fear of bumping into people and in dimly light places, for fear of falling or tripping. So off we went, down the dimly lit stairwell to our room. Then back we went, up the ,still, dimly lit stairwell. Our keycard wasn't working, so the door refused to open. At least Alex wasn't on reception, but wait, it was Melissa with her rolling eyes ( sorry Melissa, we didn't realise Sunday night telly was so exciting. Melissa, now Mel, chastised us for getting the room cards mixed up. One for the electricity supply and one for the room door. She told us that she told us which was which when we arrived. Excuse us for being fools Mel. However, you did do whatever you do and programmed the card so it would open the door. You also did it on the other two occasions when it wouldn't work, although you didn't try to blame us for any mix up then, I wonder why Mel??? Possibly a fault with either you or your machine? We hardly slept all night, so cant really comment on this other than, heating faulty, bed ok but the room was never a deluxe room as advertised. Morning arrived and we decided to find out what the previous night's decision was based on? Would Alex and his mysterious sources be revealed? Sadly not! we did complain to reception, luckily not Mel, where the two pleasant ladies, at least listened and apologised. Fast forward two days and a reply to our complaint about our treatment at the Bay Hotel. we finally found out where Alex gets his sources. Remember the dimly lit stairs? Well, it seems that there are cctv cameras sited there, I only hope they work better than the room cards? It seems we were spotted on cctv, weaving our way to our deluxe room. I wonder if the watching, I presume, Alex should have came and helped two women struggle with their bags to their room, in the dimly lit stairs. or would that have blown the cover of his sources? Sadly, we will never know. Yes your honour, I am guilty of being partially sighted, moving slowly in dimly lit areas and being unable to hurry along whilst carrying bags. Lock me up. or have I suffered enough in this hotel? Finally my rating of one doesn't do this justice. The views are worth 4 but it's balanced out by the staff, particularly Mel and Alex, who lose it 10. Do the maths and you'll see but it still doesn't let you give a minus score. Suffice to say I wont be returning to the Bay Hotel. Good luck if you still go after reading this review. I'm going to see if there are any room left to book in Tenko, can't be any worse than here. And they seem so nice on the telly too.
