Great food all home cooked and we highly recommend the specials board. The only let down was the seafood platter. Too oily and everything battered but that was the only disappointment. Rooms are in need of a refurb and the TVs are way too small although Kyle couldn't have been more helpful. He conjured up a larger one. The hospitality... More

One night stay on business up North. Hotel lived up to previous Trip reviews. Dunnet mushrooms to start and the Hunter`s chicken to follow. Both freshly made and very tasty. Breakfast also fresh and tasty. Comfortable room and staff very friendly and helpful. Will remember next time when heading north.

We had the hot seafood platter, excellent value, well cooked fresh seafood. Came with salad and yummy chips, also Marie Rose and tartare sauces. Can't fault anything, waiter was great, food was served quickly and looked as amazing as it tasted.

We overnighted at this very pleasant hotel just outside Thurso and found it very relaxing after a long days drive up the west coast. The staff were very accomodating and the food was good. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Another one night halt on my tour. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. The single room was very comfortable, but is beginning to show signs of needing a little care, but most importantly was clean. Dinner was very nice, but the breakfast was the best I've had on this tour and was the first to include Haggis. In room WiFi... More

We visited the restaurant 2 years ago and found the food superb so when we knew we were visiting the area again we thought perfect place to stay, we were wrong the room was old and dated there was no central heating in the room just a very noisy wall mounted heater, every piece of wallpaper was peeling away from... This was a very nice meal until my husband found a long dark hair in his Apple and Strawberry Crumble. As he has short grey hair it clearly wasn't his! He gave the hair to the waitress who apologised and took it into the chef who sent his apologies! That's all we got! There is no disabled toilet so I... More

We stayed a couple of nights before crossing to Orkney to allow me to indulge my cliffs and headlands and beaches habit (Dunnet Head, Dunnet Bay and Duncansby Head, all well worth a visit). Excellent location, especially with being able to see Dunnet Bay Distillers from the window. The room was OK, but as another reviewer recently noted a little... More

Located mid point on the north coast 500 this seems a popular hotel for tourists. Unfortunately the accommodation really lets this place, the north of Scotland and Scotland's reputation badly down. It is in bad, bad need of a drastic modernisation and refurb! Really poor and dated decor and furnishings (feels like the70's) and gives a poor reflection on what... More

On arrival we were told that it was chef's day off and meals might take longer than usual to arrive as the owner was being barman and chef for lunch. Nevertheless being hungry and food outlets being scarce in the area, we ordered our meal. We only had about 1/4hr to wait before the meals arrived. We'd timed it right... More
