The terrace apartment is in a house in the centre of Lagrasse which is a lovely medieval village with plenty of amenities. We were one of three couples staying there. We found it stylish, comfortable and with plenty of room for us all. The house has been beautifully restored by someone with an eye for design. The terrace itself is...

Dear DLWG Thank YOU. I really am glad that you enjoyed your stay here and more than delighted that you'll be back in May next year. That was in fact part of the original concept......people who want to be here because they feel comfortable and relaxed. It's truly a compliment. Best wishes, HouseLaFrance

My family of two adults, plus our seven year old and five year old had the most idyllic week staying in House La France in Lagrasse. Nicole was extremely efficient and lovely to deal with from the moment of booking. Lagrasse as a location was conveniently placed to see all the major sites of the region, but also beautiful, peaceful...

Gosh....Thank you so much for that lovely appraisal. I am SO glad that you and your family had a good holiday at House La France The Large Terrace Apartment. You too by the way were always a delight to deal with and the story of the bridge (secret of course!) will always make me smile. Please come back. Nicole

We cannot recommend House La France highly enough. We stayed in the first floor apartment for two weeks in July and found both the accommodation itself, Lagrasse and the surrounding area to be all we had hoped for and more. The apartment itself is spacious, stylish and cool even when it's very hot outside. We spent much of our time...

A lovely apartment in a fantastic region near Carcasonne. We stayed in the ground floor apartment which has a small balcony and view of the old bridge, during the piano festival. There are a good number of restaurants in Lagrasse, as well as in neighbouring villages. Great place to stay.

Beautiful and well equipped apartment in the centre of this small medieval town. Upstairs is a wonderful terrace - half covered, half in the sun - where we spent at least half our holiday. Lots of great wild swimming opportunities - our favourite was Rubaute - just a five minute drive away. Apartment cool despite the > 30C temperatures, and...

So very glad that you enjoyed your holiday here. I totally agree, the swimming spot in Ribaute is amazing but there are many more and not too far away either, so hopefully, you'll be back to discover them before too long......

Perfect holiday in the best of locations. Truly the perfect place to relax and let the world pass you by. The one bedroom apartment my wife and I stayed in was just the best, the balcony was a gem and listening to the frogs in the evening was something never to be forgotten. We will return.

Beautiful apartment, very comfortable with a lot of decoration tastes which could be especially appreciated be women. The view from the balcony provides feeling like time has been encapsulated in XII century sent to our times. I hope there will be the possibility to visit the place again, willingly with the group of friends

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
House la France, divided into two beautiful apartments, overlooks the Orbieu River in the wonderful listed village of Lagrasse. Easily accessible from Carcassonne, Toulouse, Perpignan,Beziers, Montpellier and Girona airports also Narbonne, the Mediterranean, Collioure and even Spain and the Costa Blanca. Swim in the river, go for a leisurely walk in the hills, a bike ride, sample oysters freshly plucked from the sea, or simply relax on the terrace and watch the sun go down. The Abbey Sainte Marie d'Orbieu, the origins of which date back to the VIII century, is just one of many attractions of this lovely and unspoilt village in an area steeped in Cathar history. There are six restaurants, two bars, an Epicerie, a Boulangerie, Pharmacy, Post Office and numerous pottery shops and galleries, all only a short walk from our front door as is the medieval (XIV century) covered market square where we have a weekly market selling a range of delicious organic and local produce including cheese, olive oil, fruit and vegetables, bread and more. The house, which forms part of the original village rampart walls, has been divided into two stylish and luxurious apartments available for holiday rentals. The Terrace Apartment has 3 bedrooms (all with en-suite bathrooms) 2 terraces, one of which is very large and overlooks the river and hills opposite, and a bright and spacious living area. The River and Ramparts Apartment has 1 bedroom, a spacious living area and a lovely terrace/balcony from which to observe the local wildlife and the river trickling by. Access to the apartments is through the Riad-like courtyard. Once a cobbled lane, it now forms the shady and characterful courtyard in the center of the house. If you would like more information, Nicole or Michael will be happy to help. ... more   less
