We checked a few places in town, and found Tianyi to be the best of them all. It is centrally located in the old town, the building itself is magnificent and atmospheric and the decoration is authentic due to the fact that it is part of the Feng Shui Museum (you get a free entry). The name hostel is misleading, since they have a lot of private rooms with shower and toilet. The place is spotlessly clean in a way that is a rarity in China even in big and expensive hotels. The stuff is nice and accommodating and if you do not speak Chinese or can not use Baidu Translate, they will find an English speaking person to communicate with you. We stayed 2 nights and loved it. Very reasonably priced.

First, Langzhong is a place worth going. Worth going NOW, I mean, before they open the airport. Beatifully preserved city, easy reach form Chengdu, it is a real jump into historical China and without the 2fake" alure of most so called "historical cities. Here people is really busy doing their own daily business. Among the main attraction of the city, the famous "feng shuei museum" also has an hostel. I was scared going there, I don't love hostels and I always fear chinese hostel are not clean. All my fears revealed wrong. Tianyi is the most clean place I have felt being in China. The smell of just-cleaned wood is everywhere. I had a room with hared bathroom and private AC. What was beautiful was the overall house, all in ancient style, full of coutrs and balconie. And at a very low price. By the way, around the city you can find many other courtyard accomodation for around the duble of the price and with private bathroom, most of the ones that I have seen are beautifull. Avoid going to international hotels that are out the old city.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Tianyi Youth Hostel in Langzhong. Its not a hostel though, its more like a family owned small hotel. Speaking absolutely no Mandarin ourselves, we were relieved that the owner's daughter could speak a little english to check us in and explain a few things about the town. We had a double room overlooking a beautiful little courtyard and could hear the relaxing music from the Feng Shui museum as we sat out the front of our room and had breakfast or read a book. The rooms were clean and tidy with modern conveniences (western toilet, decent shower) and even a TV which occasionally showed an english movie. Overall the setting was very relaxing in a traditional Chinese sense, the location quite central to the sites of Langzhong and the amenities clean and modern, I would highly recommend Tianyi as a place to stay.

This youth hostel isn't really a youth hostel to be honest.. although it does attempt to be with a shared TV area. The building is gorgeous, with the Feng Shui Museum actually being part of the hostel, and they even have a lovely cat to play with! We paid 80 kuai for a twin room with shared bathroom, lovely shared bathroom with lots of shampoo and shower gels to use and slippers! The staff don't speak English but it shouldn't be a problem as they also have a piece of paper with translations of what you might need to say.

Located in the old part of Langzhong, this hostel does a great job of bringing in new and modern conveniences while maintaining it's traditional feng shui style. My wife and I and another couple each got a single private room for 80 RMB a night. I highly recommend getting the shared bathroom, because the smell can be a bit overpowering. The heater worked GREAT, although the hot water ran out on me and the other husband after both our wives took theirs; during the summer this probably isn't an issue, but we cranked the gas up before we got in it again (and yes, we turned it back down when we finished). Everything was clean and in good condition. Be prepared to use your Chinese if you get in late like we did; the night clerk spoke little English. Plenty of little restaraunts around, including one the clerk showed us where the four of us ate five dishes for 55 yuan! Good stuff. There IS wireless, but we were never able to get the password; and since there's only one computer available, it's a good thing we were the only ones there! But we loved the charm and character, and we all agreed we'd go back in a heartbeat.
