We went to Koh Jum for the first time and stayed here for 4 nights, loved this beachfront resort. It has just a couple of nearby additional dining options to choose from, so going to other places for meals is kind of limited unless you drive. (Note: the first portion of the road is a bit "tricky" for taking the scooter/moped, so maybe walk or take a taxi would be best to go to the local village, or to get to further South locations on the beach where you can find additional bars and restaurants. The beach otherwise is lovely, great sunsets, good swimming. The staff is truly amazing, so helpful and sweet! We loved the restaurant, and especially the breakfast buffet. They even grow some of their fresh organic veggies in their own garden!! Our friends stayed in their "boat room" which look like a boat from the outside, and is just a fun luxury room option, not cheap though!
We would definitely stay here again, on a future visit of the island. And recommend this hotel to others - who are NOT opposed to climbing some serious STAIRS to go to their room for the night - as the hotel is built into the hillside! ;-)

The Ocean beach resort must be one of the greatest places on earth to relax. The friendly staff, the great food and perfect location makes for a lovely stay. When the tide hits the swimming is perfect and if you want to take a trip with the canoe there are plenty to rent/borrow. We had the "family" villa which was perfect for our family of four. There are a lot of stairs but no problems for us. Everyone in the staff did everything to makes us feel at home during our 3 nights stay. We'll be ack!

I booked online with agonda before arriving at Koh Jum & selected the second price tier bungalow because the cheapest the two smaller 'honeymoon bungalows' where right at the top of the hill & didn't want to be right up there so when we arrived we were given the 'honeymoon' bungalow which I complained about & the hard abrupt lady on reception said that's what you booked & no other rooms available, I know that's not what I booked but there was no description on the booking only sea view bungalow so could not argue as I had no proof. This marred our stay.
Book directly with Ting Rai Resort via there website for best prices & to get exactly what you want unlike me!

These bungalows are set on the side of a cliff/mountain it's very very steep unless you are very fit this will wear you out so if you pop down to the sea/restraunt/bar etc & forget something you will consider suicide rather than climbing Everest yet again!!!

Smallish beach some rocks so beware.
Restraunt was good, food a good standard typical Thai menu same as everywhere else. they want you to run a tab & pay at check out, so keep your own record of everything you order to check upon check out.
Very nice if slightly small Room - very clean & cleaned daily. 4 poster bed.
No a/c but 2 fans (still hot at night)

OK for a night or two we moved down to Long Beach & preferred it there nicer beach no rocks clearer water.

50 baths to hire snorkeling gear
300 baths to hire scooter

Construction noise in Hotel all day and until 2 am at night, which made it inpossible to relax at all. We weren't informed beforehand, which should be the bare minimun!Hotel overall in a really bad shape. No Wifi working in room, hardly working in public ares. Room wasn't cleaned once during a 4 night stay, water not refilled e.g. Breakfast is really bad! You get slices of toast and sausage, excpexted alot more for the price. Also, breakfast is promoted a different way on homepage and booking.com. Room very filthy and smelled musty. Check in staff very unpleasant, nothing was explained and we felt like a burden when we asked for Wifi password, breakfast hours e.g.
There are better options in Koh Jum, do not choose this Hotel.

Hi ,

I would like to leave an honest review of this resort, I travelled with a group of nine of us two family's with kids all over the age of ten. Firstly the resort is in a beautiful location off the beaten track with a stunning backdrop, we arrived by longboat directly to the resort from the mainland after a stay in Koh Lanta. The resort overall does not unfortunately represent any value for money, It's disappointing as many other resorts seem to thrive in similar situations. The breakfast was nothing short of unacceptable, a very poor selection of food so we decided to eat next door and pay for it. The same goes across the board for this resort , Its has super potential and with good management it would be a great place to stay. Hopefully the future will bring its potential.

This resort is overpriced in comparison to other Koh Jum resorts. The resort is located on a hillside with over 200 steps to get from the road to the reception at sea level. To get to the resort you must travel along a dirt road which is rutted, steep in places and strewn with small rocks. Taxi is the best way to get here and if you choose to hire a scooter take extreme care on this road. I stayed here for 3 nights and found the lacotion to be peacful. The cottages are set up the hillside in a well established area of trees. The resort shows many signs of needing maintenance, probably stemming from the COVID closure of over 2 years. However, the two resorts nearby are much better maintained. The food at the resort is average, I ate dinner here each night, but the breakfast is unacceptable for the price you pay. Very poor selection of items. If you are looking to stay in one place for your stay, prepared to put up with the run down nature of the resort then this is a great place to unwind. If not, and you want to explore the island and go to different cafes etc. I suggest staying somewhere else. There are monkeys here but they did not cause me any trouble. The pool is a good size but with clear signs of algae growing on the walls. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Wifi is not good at all and certainly not high speed. I take into account that Koh Jum is a very uncommercialised island but this resort needs to do better.

new ownership and renovations are utterly heartbreaking. used to be our favourite resort. small, peaceful, perfect and only 25€/night. now they renovated, put tvs in the rooms (?!?) serve only western food and are charging 8 times the price! there are plenty of other places on the island for much less.

It was sold and renovated, prices now 6 to 10 times higher. The rooms look much more renovated, AC and TVs and such but I am afraid it is a very different place than it used to be, a shame, I had been visiting for the last 7 years but I am afraid it is no more.

I can't rate this resort highly enough. I have been to Thailand a number of times now and this is without doubt my favorite resort.

The island is secluded and unspoilt. You can sit on the beach and often be one of two or three people on it. Snorkelling was actually not bad, some decent coral and ocean life. Just ask advice in the resort as to which way to swim.

The food was always excellent. I like my food really spicy, and they were always prepared to do this (I often find I ask for spicy and get mild or medium because I am European so its assumed I don't really like it hot). Food was fresh, tasty and the Penang was to die for.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, even spending time helping me improve my terrible Thai. The atmosphere was relaxed, staff were polite, but happy to have fun and joke along too.

Sitting watching the monkeys in the mornings was fun. Cheeky little things but very cute.

Don't expect any shops, so take what you need. But that's half the attraction :)

We hired a long boat for just the two of us (about £45 I think) to go to phi phi. It was nice to see, very beautiful, but too busy by far. But a lovely day.

Can't say enough good things about this place, beautiful, very good value for money (food and drink for 3-4 meals a day for two of us less than £120 for four days) and peace and quiet. Can't wait to go back in 2018.

Have a wonderful time and enjoy.

We stayed here for three nights, wish it could of been longer!
From the first email Taam and her family/team were friendly, helpful and spoke good English, could not fault any of the staff we came across here!
The huts are built into the hillside jungle, they are lovely and rustic, you get to see lots of butterflies, birds, lizards and monkeys while sat on your balcony, just make sure you have some mozzie spray!
Beach is small but perfect, lovely authentic food, and nice bar!
We did the snorkelling day trip and loved it, you can also hire snorkels and swim to see fish straight from the beach!
We loved this place and would definitely recommend it!
One word of warning, if you have mobility problems Koh Jum as a whole is probably not suitable as all the reports have steep steps and are set into the hillside, if not then enjoy it, it's an amazing place!

which is the nearest airport? how far it is from there
Answer from Skinmeister
Los Angeles, California395 contributions107 helpful votes
The nearest airport is Krabi Intl Airport. Ferries to Koh Jum depart from Krabi's Klong Jilad Pier several times per day. Once you arrive at Krabi Airport, take a taxi or bus to Klong Jilad Pier to catch the ferry. Tickets are available at the pier. Not sure about the actual distance, just look it up on Google maps.
