We planned to stay here for 9 nights but had to return home after 2 nights because of Covid19 and borders closing. Two nights was way to short, beause we loved it here from the moment we arrived. The staff is superfriendly, some of them dont speak very good English but with their smile they do the talking. Our room was fantastic, very clean, bright and with lovely sea view. Some people here complain about the hard matress but for us it was fine. Yes it is hard but not uncomfortable The resort grounds are well kept and the beach is nice. I expected a lot of rocks in the ocean but that was not bad at all. Even at low tide you could have a bath. One note; there are some stairs to reach the beach and restaurant so if you cannot walk properly this is not your place. Also there is not much to do in Koh Jum, but for us this was the reason we went there in the first place. And the restaurant.... very very good. I can honestly say that i had the best red curry ever, and i can assure you i have eaten that many times before. Massaman curry and Panang curry, Papaya salad: all fantastic. The bar also serves very good cocktails (Mai Tai!) and food and drinks are reasonable priced. I cannot wait to return here to this little piece of paradise. Dear people of Koh Jum resort, thank you for everything and i hope you all are doing fine. See you next year!…
My girlfriend, our 9 months old baby and myself, went to Koh Jum Resort in Jan 20 for a week. We where looking forward to relax in the seaview superior bamboo cottage, but when we arrived it was clear that it was not what we expected we were getting. The website says it’s a 30 sq m bungalow, but it’s more like 10-12 sq m, maybe 15 if you count in the bathroom AND balcony. As we are traveling with our daughter we had ordered a baby cod, that wasn’t there and the manager was not sure if it could fit in the room. They managed to get it in there leaving just enough room for our luggage, leaving no room at all for our daughter to sit/play on. We talked to the manager and he said they were fully booked and there was nothing to do about it. We complained again and was told we could move to an other room the next day for 1 night, then we could move to another room for two days, the back to the cottage for a night, then to another room for a night and the back again. With a baby and a lot of luggage that was nowhere something we where interested in. After 4 nights in 3 different rooms we moved to the resort next door! Before we left the manager told us, to remember not to do a bad review, now we got to stay in a larger room than we payed for, I told him I wouldn’t do a bad review if they changed the description on there website, now 2 months later nothing happened. So here it is! The staff was great and friendly, food was fine, but all in all not a place I’ll recommend.. Btw, here are a few photos from the bungalow we were upgraded to, glad we didn’t pay for it! and the bathtub, was impossible to fill because of the low water pressure.. …
Good stuff: Lovely setting, friendly staff, clean reasonably well appointed rooms, comfy bed, clean pool, attractive restaurant and dining on the beach. Nice good quality food and good selection at breakfast. Clean beach. Lily on the bar was good at her job. Great massages from Nui. Lots of monkeys around. Not so good: Many treacherous steep concrete steps up and down the resort with no handrail! You cannot swim off the beach at any time other than high tide due to slippery sharp rocks (I cut my foot). The pool is dated with several times missing with sharp edges. Nowhere comfy to sit down anywhere, the balcony furniture was exceedingly heavy, wooden and kept collapsing. They gave us a sun bed with no padding! No padding on any seats or the beach sun beds and no beach umbrellas in 35 degrees. Some shade from trees but only up to 3pm. Staff had poor grasp of english (except manager) which made comms very difficult. Worse of all, a treacherous severely rutted track to resort meant that you are effectively trapped there unless you pay £7.50 each way for a 4x4 taxi to the local village 5 km away!. Massive TV but not one english speaking channel available, only Thai. No other facilities available. We rented a scooter from the village but there wasn't really anywhere to go due to mainly dirt tracks on the island and just two concrete roads.…
We had a fantastic stay at the resort with our 1 year old baby. Despite a lot of steps to our bungalow and bad beds we would very much recommend this place to anyone wanting excellent service, peace and quite and great food on the beach every day.
In consideration that we got our from at a 86% discount. it was very nice!! we had a beautiful bungalow with a view over the ocean, and the service was impeccable. but there were some things, not very satisfactory (especially if one paid full price: -there are no places really to hang or put our belongings except for some hangers. -food and drinks is quite overpriced in compartment to other places. -and not very good :( -massage is quite expensive compared to other places. 800 bath vs 300 bath. -scooters are >500 for 5 hours, compared to 300/24hours. -they forgot to fill up our minibar. All in all they get four stars based on the 86% discount.
