After a long drive from the Midlands the staff gave us a very warm welcome and could not do enough for us during our stay. Our room was a good size and clean. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was absolutely lovely. Zara Continental was perfect for our overnight stay on our onward journey.

Zara Continental Langholm. If this hotel was refurbished in 2014 it was done with wood chip paper and gloss paint. It is not wheelchair accessible. There is no free parking, the hotelier will direct you to the resident parking area which you are not allowed to park in without a disc but you find this out until you’ve got a ticket. It needs a good clean. Dirty shower still had last guests soap and bits. The beds had worn and bobbled duvet covers and I don’t think they were too clean. The room described as having a seating area and a micro didn’t have either. The electrics were downright dangerous! Never again!

After looking for a family room at the last minute this was the only one available. Could do with a spring clean, Shower head blocked with limescale and just an hours worth of cleaning needed. Bed sheets were dirty, I was too tired to worry and we pretty much left early rhe next morning. Was warm so the windows were open at night but we had ro shut them. The quiet looking pub opposite was abit lively ro say the least with most people seeming to like a bit of a chant and swear outside. Hopefully this is just a weekend thing. I wouldn't have stayed here knowing what I do now.

This was a last minute family stay for the common riding. The rooms were not to well equipped and there were no fans with the heat that plastered the town this weekend. but overall it was a lovely place to stay and the staff went out of their way to help out where they could. They now know what they need to make sure the rooms will be set up for customers when the rooms are needed again.

We managed to find a parking space about five minutes from Hotel, there is a large parking area about 15 minute walk that is free. We arrived half three, and I thought check in was at two. Could not enter the hotel, but after about 5 minutes the Manager arrived and explained check in was at four, but very nicely allowed us to enter early to get us booked in. I had booked the family room some weeks earlier and paid for it (79.99). On the day I also booked a last minute room via booking.com for approx 53.00,. We were shown to our rooms which were spacious and very clean. The bathroom in the family room was huge !! And the shower was fantastic. We took a walk around the area to give our dog one last spin before settling down for the night. Having done such a massive drive, and with an equally long drive the next day, it wasn't long before hubby and I were asleep. I was awoken by light knocking from out in the street which was making my dog bark and growl, but in my sleepy state I just kept telling her to shush. Then suddenly the knocking got very loud, and at the same time my daughter and her partner were knocking at my door stating that it was the police banging on the street entry door demanding to get in. My daughter, her partner and I went down to the door afraid that something was going on in the hotel that was endangering us. We opened the door to be greeted by a very drunk woman from Manchester who explained she had booked a room there and could not gain entry, she had been helped in her quest by a large group of local males who had obviously decided that the gentle knocking was not enough, and had come up with a plan of pretending to be the police. We explained that there was no manager on site to give her a key and they left, not before putting the door on its snib, which we quickly shut properly. This was all at 12.35 at night. There was not contact number for us to call other than the hotel, which obviously there was no-one there to answer, although with hindsight we should have called booking.com, who do carry an alternative number. The noise in the street continued until gone two in the morning, and we did not get to sleep until about three as we were jumping at every noise. Of course this behaviour is NOT the fault of the hotel, and I believe the public house across from us should do more to stop their patrons frightening and disturbing other businesses guests. Once we left in the morning, much later than planned, we realised hubby had left his medication inside. we could no longer return to the room and so were in a bit of state as to how long we would have to wait for someone to turn up. We contacted booking.com who rang the manager, who in turn arrived within minutes to help us. He was very lovely about it, and apologised for our bad night. It is a budget hotel, and the manager was such a nice guy, but unless you can sleep through anything, or in fact fancy a lively night yourself across the road...I'm afraid I can't recommend it.
