My wife uses a wheelchair and only one room is possible via the back door. You cannot reach other parts of the hotel and have to eat in a room that does not have a table. whilst i'm sure no problem for most, they need to consider disabled clients who would love to see the rest of the hotel. but... This is a fantastic place to stay, who wouldn't want to stay in a Castle? The whole place was a labyrinth with staircases (no lifts) and courtyard everywhere. It is situated in the centre of Mandawa so it is easy to walk around the village which is full of interesting Havelis (houses covered with wonderful paintings). The downside of this... More

We recently stayed at Castle Mandawa for 3 nights with friends. The castle is a Heritage hotel built in the 1750's and many of the features have been largely untouched through the years. We had a magical time exploring the castle and the traditional village of Mandawa including the many beautifully decorated Havelis although many in the town have fallen... More

An amazing heritage hotel with spacious rooms, wonderful restaurant and a beautiful pool area. Stayed for 1 night and wish I'd been able to stay longer! Staff were friendly and polite and always willing to be of assistance. Would definitely recommend.

Rooms have kept the heritage feel, tidy and clean. Staff very helpful. We loved sitting in the bar and relaxing -... More

The castle is kept alive the way it was, with the Maharajas style influence, though it is cozy and livable. The sight from the rooftop is great! The restaurant is superb, good international wines and food, with very good service. The poolside is great with very goo taste in a desert style. The whole hotel is unique and we had... More

Loved the fact that we were in the old castle. The rooms were spacious and you walked through the old castle to get to the dining room which was lavishly decorated and served delicious food. The outlook over the city from the ramparts was superb. Sunsets from the turrets were spectacular. The pool area was also beautiful, more modern, but beautiful.... More

On our tour of Rajasthan this was our first experience at staying at hotel which had been a palace. Your first impressions are pleasure and surprise. It is nothing short of amazing. As it had been a palace its design for a hotel left me with a feeling of a rabbit warren with corridors off corridors. As with other hotels... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Like many historic homes, Castle Mandawa is a curious mixture of the old and the new. Medieval turreted towers, palanquin-roofed balconies, blend with modern comforts in old-world rooms. Family portraits, antique cannons and arms add to the charm of this family-run resort where tradition still runs strong. Today, the world comes to this storybook town to see its colourful frescoes on every subject under the sun, that is, ranging from the religious to the erotic; from copies of popular English prints to witty social satire, rendered in the inimitable style of the local artist. And perhaps the best place to discover the legacy of Shekhawati is from the comfort of Castle Mandawa, a fortress, now converted into a luxurious heritage hotel. Explore Castle Mandawa at your own pace. Spend a leisurely hour over a drink in the colonial verandah that accommodates the bar, or relax in the cosy comfort of the Diwankhana, the formal drawing room decorated with family portraits and an array of antique armour. ... more   less
